Twitch Plays Pokemon Empty Twitch Plays Pokemon

Post  Hiroshi Saito on Fri Mar 21, 2014 11:24 pm

For those of you not aware, there was recently a social experiment carried out on twitch.tv, a streaming website for any and all video games where users can share themselves playing videogames in real time and interact with their audience.

Twitch plays Pokemon is the brainchild of one man’s coding that takes advantage of the live stream chat, and by inputting commands in the chat, you can control the character in the stream, sounds cool, no? Except for the fact that there are over 5000 other people controlling the same character at the same time.

The adventure started out in Pokemon Red Version, our hero, Red started out on his journey. Red was an odd fellow, prone to walking into walls, talking to the same person over and over and over again, and obsessed with the voices in his head. Eventually he found his god, the Helix fossil. With the help of the Helix fossil, and two hundred and fifty thousand viewers, Red was able to conquer the world of Kanto in just over two weeks.

Many thought it was over, but it was far from over. The viewers continued on to play Pokemon Crystal Version. Many misadventures were had, and many triumphs were had. The team managed to conquer all of the Kanto and Johto regions, and finally move on to Pokemon Emerald version, which will start at the time of this article being wrote, in just over an hour and a half. Want to try the Twitch Plays Pokemon experience? Visit http://www.twitch.tv/twitchplayspokemon and create an account on twitch.tv to get started! Happy playing, oh and, would you like to hear the word of our lord and savior the Helix fossil?
