Re: [SS] Through the Eyes of the Silent Dolls

While Nori and Kohaku were handling the matter of the doll, Kana continued to ponder the topic of the next step to take. Collecting more cameras wasn't exactly useful, but it was hard to consider what else there was to do. Was there even any other evidence left behind? From what she had seen so far, it didn't seem like it, but if it were so easy to find, someone else would've probably already found it, assuming the student council had actually been trying to, Kana figured.

"The locker room? That seems okay with me." It was a change of pace in the sense that it wasn't a classroom, as Nori says, though that didn't necessarily mean it'd contain any different kinds of clues or hints, but it was potentially a better option than simply checking each classroom.

As the two of them discussed the topic of simply collecting the cameras it became more obvious to her that probably all three of them felt that they weren't really making any progress at this point. As much as she would like to stumble upon some clue or consider some great idea, it was fairly difficult to consider anything in this sort of scenario. Intelligent or not, they weren't exactly detectives, although Kana had read many detective stories, it simply didn't conveniently convert into the real world.

While lost in thought she was brought back to the situation at hand by the sound of a camera shutter, and a faint whisper following it. It didn't take long to realize they just had their picture taken. Someone else was at the school with them right now, and now had a photo of them messing with a doll. Before she could take action, Nori had already began to chase the culprit.

She realized the situation would get even worse if she didn't chase after Nori, though. While there was no photo evidence of the culprit on the school cameras she wasn't sure what sort of power it was that allowed them to do so. If it was only effective on themself there was a chance Nori would end up running into range of a camera and be not only caught by the culprit's camera but even the school's recordings. Something which she had already taken great effort to make sure they avoided up until now.

She was already certain she was likely not as quick as Nori, but she would try her best. It wouldn't surprise her if she were the slowest of the three, but that wasn't what was important. She took off running without confirming what Kohaku was doing, but if Kohaku was running along with her, she'd likely know soon either from hearing, or now she that was trying to concentrate her power motion within range of herself.

Re: [SS] Through the Eyes of the Silent Dolls

Post  Kira Kohaku on Sat Aug 19, 2017 8:24 am

Kohaku was hardly someone who could call herself athletic. In terms of physical capability, she could only ever call herself average. She would only ever be able to run so far before collapsing. In the end, she functioned far better as the prey running for the hills rather than the hunter chasing down a target.

Needless to say, she only made it as far as outside of the room in her run before she ended up cutting her losses with that methodology. Rather than give chase, the better option was to try and cut the culprit off on another route. That’s what the athletic type would have said.

The best option for her was to simply go in the opposite direction from Nori and Kana. There was a chance that the voyeur had went in the other direction, so it was a matter of a 50-50 chance between whether Nori and Kana would find them or whether she would. She would need to be thorough.

Getting into a brisk pace, she started moving.

Clenching at her phone and hyperventilating to compensate in the sudden rise in activity from her escape, she sat with her back against a door, keeping her ears focused on what was going on.

The act of running away at a long distance was not something she needed to do and dealing with Nori was something she absolutely knew was a terrible idea.

So, she hid in a more distant classroom and waited.

She only had to wait for about a minute to hear a set of footsteps pass by. Based on how the group had acted before, the one to give chase first would likely have likely been Nori, without a doubt. He had come off as the most impulsive of the group. She had done enough research on the three who had been investigating the dolls to get enough of a grasp on how they would act.

All she had to do now was wait until the next set of footsteps to pass by and…

Opening the door, she found exactly what she had hoped.

“I wouldn’t take another step if I were you, senpai.” At this point, Nori was too far away to hear it and the only one who could hear was the one who was now just feet away—Kana. “Make any sudden movements and things won’t be pretty for you or the other two.”

Eri would not lose control. That’s just who she was.

On the other hand, Nori was the victim of something more strange. A small head clashed into his stomach, throwing him off balance and knocking him to the ground, inside a stairwell.

His body was thrown back as his head landed on the floor and a hand covered his mouth.

The culprit was a smaller girl with pink-red framed glasses and short black hair. She was wearing a simple creme-colored t-shirt and a pair of loose, baggy shorts with numerous pockets. It was a girl Nori had met once before that day.

With a panicked expression, she put a finger to her mouth to signal silence and spoke. “Shhh! What do you think you’re doing?!” Despite her tone, she was able to keep the volume of her words at a soft whisper.

Re: [SS] Through the Eyes of the Silent Dolls

Post  Kinoshita Nori on Sat Aug 26, 2017 8:08 pm

As Nori entered into the hall and began his chase after the culprit a grin spread across his face. The idea of getting framed for the dolls was a frightening one but his thoughts had now moved elsewhere. He was so closed to getting the person responsible for the dolls, he was so close that getting his revenge and never having to deal with a doll staring at him during class ever again. It all came down to whether they caught this person now. If they succeeded then their investigation was over but if they failed then they would be held responsible for the dolls. The masked villain was almost certain he could catch them all he needed was one good shot. As he ran down the halls he quickly reached into his inside jacket pocket and pulled out the baseball.

He knew exactly what he was going to do once his target entered his sights. Throwing the baseball at his full strength at one of their legs would most likely slow down their retreat significantly and if he was lucky possibly even bring them to a complete stop. However, the force of the baseball would’ve been the least of the victims problems as Kinoshita began focusing his ability on the ball bring its temperature down to extreme levels. He was making certain that his prey wouldn't get out of this unscathed, even if the ball didn't hit them with enough force to slow them down, the below freezing temperature of the ball could. Luckily for culprit the masked villain’s opportunity to hit them never came.

He had no clue they had hidden inside the classroom as he ran by and instead continued to run down the hall in pursuit of a target that was no longer there. Completely oblivious to his folly he continued to run until he felt a sudden blow to his stomach and he clenched his teeth as he fell to the ground. The baseball fell out of his hand and rolled across the floor. With his concentration broken his control of the balls thermal energy dissipated causing ice to quickly form around the ball's surface. For a very brief moment he was stunned but in a split second his instincts kicked in and his arm shot out reaching for the neck if who he assumed was an attacker. He had grown used to fighting with delinquents and thugs so suddenly being hit followed by hand covering his mouth put him in survival mode.

He was on the verge of grabbing the poor girl's neck and active game his ability but stopped just before as he noticed her face. He was suddenly very confused and baffled as he realized who it was. He lowered his arms and listened as she told him to be quiet while demanding to know why he was there. His confusion changed to irritation as he looked up at the girl. Why was he here? The better question why she was here. He was investigating the dolls, she on the other hand as far as he knew had no reason to be here. He knew she wasn't the person he was chasing as there was no sign of a camera on her and she wouldn't need to ask him what he was doing here if she had been his target. He gave an irritated look towards the girl as he waited for her to remove her hand from his mouth so he answer.

Re: [SS] Through the Eyes of the Silent Dolls

Post  Tsukomata Kana on Sun Sep 03, 2017 9:37 pm

As expected she was falling pretty far behind, Nori was simply much faster than her despite her best efforts. However as she was running she felt motion within range of Spatial Sensing. She tried to come to stop, but ended up passing by the door, and just as she did the door opened behind her. She had already been looking that way as the door opened, having had an advanced notice of someone's presence through use of her power. As Eri came out and threatened Kana she couldn't help but be slightly amused. Did this mean that Eri was the culprit? It was certainly not the first guess Kana would've made with the little information she had so far.

Even in a situation like this, Kana was the type to remain calm. While she didn't yet know how this might play out she was confident she could come out of it in a well enough situation to not need to worry about it. She wasn't entirely sure what Eri was capable of, if she had a power, but she would have to see for herself if the situation arose.

"Okay, I'll cooperate. What do you plan to do to us now?"

The truth was that Kana was quite confident in the speed of her power, and not just that, it was also a power she could use without moving quite easily. She would rather not resort to that if she could help it though.  Instead this could be a good chance to learn more, provided she could get anything out of her without her doing anything rash. The way Kana saw it, as long as she was aware that Eri was the one here, it should be within reason to prove an association to the dolls if she truly is the culprit. There was also a small chance that she was simply investigating the dolls as well, but Kana didn't find that too likely in the given scenario.

"Are you planning to try to blackmail us with the photo?"

Kana didn't have a good enough read on her to know how she would answer her questions yet, but there probably wasn't any harm in trying to test waters. If she did act rashly from being upset by Kana trying to question her she was ready to use her own power to defend herself. For the moment Kana just wanted to see if she could get a reaction from her, or anything to try to get a read on the situation. Even if she didn't answer, she could try to read that or her body movements.

Re: [SS] Through the Eyes of the Silent Dolls

Post  Kira Kohaku on Sat Sep 09, 2017 8:27 am

It was all going so wonderfully smoothly that Eri could laugh out loud. She would not even dare to considering the situation, but there was definitely a crooked smile forming on her face. The senpai had taken the bait hook, line, and sinker.

“Good, good. You understand your situation.”

With her free hand, she pointed in the direction where Nori had run. “My demand is simple. Lead the masked bastard to another room with a doll in it. Any of them will do. Tell him to check on the specific doll and pretend that you’ve caught me and are dealing with me. Afterwards, I want you to take the medical nut and leave this building. Do that and I’ll gladly erase the picture I took of you three.”

Her smile continued to shine in that dark, dark hallway. “I think that’s a fair deal. I have nothing against you or her but he needs to learn his lesson for crossing me. Catch my drift?”

The boy had stopped resisting. That was what Nanami could feel through her hand. He was obviously irritated, and who could blame him, but he was not going to do anything stupid.

Nanami sighed as she pulled her finger from her lips, relaxed the extensors of her arm, and got off of Nori. “Keep your voice as low as possible and stay calm. I don’t want her to hear us.”

She had no idea what was going on through the boy’s head but she needed to choose her words wisely. One wrong word could throw everything into worse chaos than was already going on. Frankly, she was starting to regret having come into the building this night.

“You’ve been caught in Eri’s web. Right now, that picture she took of you. She’s probably planning to use it to frame you as the culprit for the dolls.” In an uncharacteristically firm way, she leveled all of the important information to Nori. “She’s prideful to a fault and she hates it when people cross her. Naturally, her intelligence tends to be put to use for that. She deduced your actions and timings and put a plan into action to ruin you.”

“Running around chasing after her isn’t going to fix anything. But we need to strike while the iron’s hot. Catch my drift?”

At the same time, another encounter happened.

“So, Class Rep. What brings you here so late at night?” Kohaku’s voice rang out before she found herself in an intense staring match with the taller boy before a certain door.

A perfect storm was brewing and the lynchpin holding everything in an eerie calm was slowly bending to fracture.

He knew to stay calm, he didn't need the girl to tell him to keep quiet after she had already covered his mouth and put her finger to her lips. However, while he was still mildly irritated about what happened the word her caught his attention. Who exactly was Nanami about? Did she know the identity of the person he had been chasing and once again he had to ask why the hell she was here? More questions began to develop in his head but in his current situation there wasn’t enough time. As the girl began to speak again the masked villain began to rise to his feet. He would listen to Nanami as at the very least the girl seemed to know more about the current situation than he did and as he listened he found himself disappointed. He had thought he had been chasing the dolls’ culprit but instead it was just a prideful and bratty girl he had agitated earlier that day.

”Tch, it just had to be her. I had hoped that the person that I had been chasing was the one responsible for the dolls but it was just that arrogant brat. How disappointing”

Nori had made sure to keep his voice down and spoke at a level just above a whisper. His voice didn’t carry the panic or anger of someone who was possibly being framed by an enemy he had made earlier that day instead his voice just sounded empty and emotionless as if he had simply stopped caring. However, this was very far from the truth as Kinoshita now knew exactly who he was looking for and knew what she was planning. She wanted to get back at him for what had happened earlier that day and being honest if he had been in her shoes he probably wouldn’t let himself off easily either. Yet he had no plans on letting her go at this point, being framed was not something he was going to allow and he was going to be sure to teach Eri that crossing him was just as bad or possibly even worse than crossing her.

”It sounds like you have some kind of plan in mind already and I would like to hear it but first I need to ask you a question. Why are you helping me?”

As he waited for the answer he walked over to his dropped baseball that was now defrosting on the ground. The ball had warmed up since it had been sitting in the air and given the amount of time it had just been lying there it was probably no longer dangerous to touch directly. Being cautious, however, he left his gloves on as he picked it up and quickly moved it to his pocket. He was curious about why Nanami had come here to help him, he had a pretty good guess but he wanted to hear it from the girl’s mouth instead of just making an unfounded assumption

It was hard to tell whether Eri would actually uphold her end, but it's not like Kana had intentions of actually going through with it either. For the time being she could just continue playing along though. "How exactly would you have me pretend to capture you? Just tell him, or are you going to pretend to be captured?" Kana didn't think it would really work out so favorably, but it was partly a legitimate question. Though if Eri did intend to play the part of a captive it would make the process a little bit easier for actually capturing her. It would certainly be a convenient world if the culprit were to practically catch themself.

One thing that she said that caught Kana's attention was that she pointed out Kohaku was a medical nut. It was possible they had known each other at some point, and didn't really provide any useful information, but it was still something Kana took note of. Kana thought the situation over a little longer, trying to debate the best way to handle this. Ideally she could simply wait for the situation to change. Either Nori would return, or Kohaku would follow eventually. Trying to handle Eri alone may be possible, but was there a reason to risk it? Currently Eri was under the assumption Kana would cooperate with her, however she probably wouldn't want to wait around or talk forever either. Still, there wasn't any harm in delaying it, even if Eri were to get upset it was still likely a situation that could be remedied. Worst case scenario she would have to try to resolve it alone, but that was the case if she didn't wait for the others anyway.

"You do plan to keep your end of the bargain, right?" Trying to continue the act of seeming compliant she figured the normal thing to do was try to verify the deal

Why are you helping me?

In all honesty, Nanami could have chosen the more efficient route and just let things happen. For her own ends, at the very least, letting Nori become a victim of Eri would help her in the long run. He was without a doubt, a perfect stepping stone.

Feigning ignorance for her own sake would have been nothing short of efficient. She was a selfish girl. From the beginning, everything was for her own sake. But...

“If I had to give a reason...”

Nanami stood up, lowering her gaze to the floor.

“I just don’t want to have someone else dragged into my mess, even if they’re the ones making an unwanted intervention.”

In the end, that’s all it was and that’s all it needed to be.

“Of course, I intend to keep my end of the bargain.”  Eri’s pride was not letting up in the slightest. With a single grin, she pointed to her ear.

“All you need to do is contact him.”  It was a simple proposal. “I’m sure you have his number. You guys were all getting buddy buddy during lunch today so don’t give me that excuse. Message him, call him, whatever is necessary, though I’d rather the former.”

Clapping her hands together, she gave off the falsest looking sunny grin. “Pick a room with a doll in it that would sound like it’d be of interest. Tell him you caught me and you drilled some information out of me. Once you’re done, get out of the building. Aren’t I being so wonderfully understanding?”

Re: [SS] Through the Eyes of the Silent Dolls

Post  Kinoshita Nori on Tue Nov 07, 2017 12:43 pm

”So you’re telling me that your reason for breaking into the school after hours to help me and confront Eri, someone who up until now you have never stood up against, is so that no one get drags into your mess. That’s quite a bit of righteousness out of you all of a sudden”

Nori wasn't going to buy Nanami’s explanation even if it was true. People only ever worked for themselves, there was no such thing as true selflessness, and the girl before him was no different. However, he didn't doubt that she was there to stop Eri but he believed it was to get revenge not to keep people out of her mess. A small grin spread across Nori’s face as he came to this conclusion, Nanami knew Eri much better than he did and had much more time to think on her vengeance. He was truly interested to see what kind of plan she had in mind. The idea of knocking Eri off her high horse was something he had set his eyes on now.

”So tell me, what is it exactly that you have in mind to deal with Eri? How do you plan on finding her? She has the picture so I don't she will stay in the school much longer”

Nori had lost sight of his initial goal of catching the doll thief. His lust for revenge had moved on to a different target. He wanted to drag Eri down, destroy every last bit of her pride, and he wanted to be the one to do this. In this moment the dolls no longer mattered to him, he was simply a puppet of his own rage. In full honesty, he wasn't much different from Eri. As Nanami said she put her full intellectual power into bringing harm to those she perceived as harming her or her pride and Nori wasn't much different. If Eri was going to try to strike at him, he strike right back.

Re: [SS] Through the Eyes of the Silent Dolls

Post  Hujisaka Natsumi on Mon Jan 01, 2018 2:31 am

She felt particularly distrustful at the girl's words; indeed, her arrogance and pride was speaking volumes about the fact that she may be the type of person who'd still falsely sell them out to ensure they don't investigate this matter any further. As time went on and the girl expressed herself more and more, Kana ascertained the fact that whether backup arrived or not, she may still have to have a hands-on approach to this situation in order to ensure this girl would be captured and the photo erased.

Not only because she felt like bringing this matter to an end now that she had involved herself in the investigation, but should this girl be untrustworthy and forward the picture to the student council anyway, her status as an upstanding student would be highly endangered if she managed to avoid being suspended or expelled.

Kana recalled the peculiar designs of the many dolls that had appeared on school grounds lately, especially the one whose eye had been replaced by a rose with thrashing wild vines; they were indeed standoffish enough to be individually called out to, but something specific about that wording bothered her.

Why imply that some of the dolls were of more interest than those they'd already found and opened? Surely this girl had some semblance of awareness that the cameras within some of the dolls have been discovered; otherwise it would be almost nonsensical to threaten the three in this matter.

Was there more to this matter than what was already frankly disturbing?

“Of interest? Are some of the dolls more important than others?” She "naively" asked what seemed an irrelevant question as she pulled her cellphone as if compliant to Eri's requests, but to her it was important in terms of figuring of both what were this girl's intentions and gain time.

After all, they still had no remote idea of what purpose the dolls meant to serve especially by being equipped with cameras that she had to go out of her way to hide from the student council.

Even if he was questioning the answer she gave at first, Nanami was happy to see that he let it slide to press on with her plan. She was hardly lying to him, but the motivation that came out of her mouth stood on an obviously shaky foundation to anyone who did not know her enough. There was no need for her to worry at this point.

“We’ll fight fire with fire.” Nanami pulled out her phone and showed a single short video clip of Eri wandering the entrance way at night. “Give me your e-mail. We’ll have you pull the trigger.”

She was hardly one to pull the dirty work herself and in this dire situation. Confronting Eri herself was, in all honesty, a terrible idea. After all, she could never speak up to Eri before. Even the advantage of that video file was not enough for her to start a confrontation.

But with Nori here…

------------
Eri stared, mildly dumbfounded at what she heard. She honestly needed a moment to fully process it all. Was the Kana implying that Eri knew something about the dolls that the motley investigation party didn’t? Or perhaps was she implying that Eri was the culprit?

How…

“Pfft--” Eri tried to stop herself from breaking into laughter at the utter stupidity of it all. She clenched her nose and mouth with her free hand before calming down.

“Are you joking? I know jack shit about these dolls and frankly, I know too little to care about whether some are more important or not.” Eri was a wonderful lady who knew all too well the pleasure one could derive from gloating and any fool could tell she was deriving maximum amounts from it. “All I care about now is putting that asshat in his place.”

Fire with fire? He knew what it meant but didn't see how Nanami was capable of going through with such an act. As far as he could tell she didn't have anything against Eri until a moment later when she took her phone out. He had a pretty good idea what he was going to find on it before he was even shown the video. This girl was definitely very prepared for taking on Eri, though he had to wonder how Nanami knew that her bully was going to be here at the school. It seemed incredibly suspicious but he couldn't risk losing the evidence against that demon girl so he would leave the questioning for a later point in time.

A moment later he found himself slightly disappointed when the girl ask him to be the one who pulls the trigger. She had put in a good amount of effort to get to this point and yet at the very last moment she hesitated. She wanted to hit back yet still seemed afraid of the consequences. Honestly, he found it sad and almost pathetic. He wasn't going to push her to do it herself, however, simply because he was going to truly enjoy pulling the rug out from under Eri.

"You really are very prepared for this. Anyways, my email is MaskedPitcherFrost@email.com. We are still going to have find Eri though if we are going to try to blackmail her. Do your happen to have a plan for finding her as well?

As Nori was talking he had taken out his phone. He needed it to put Nanami's plan into action but he had also lost Kohaku and Kana in his pursuit. Meaning for one they had lost their power in numbers and it also meant that he had no way to move the cameras to avoid being spotted. There was still a lot of work to do if he was going to stop Eri from framing him while catching the culprit responsible for the dolls as well. Part of him was hoping Eri would be the culprit simply because their would be less to do.

(So the source of this is petty vengeance, huh.)

It was fairly worthwhile information in itself to know that this girl wasn't the “mastermind” behind this mystery but rather a pawn, but Kana couldn't help but question this girl's actual integrity in society if she managed to act like such an intelligent maniac regardless when she was but the mere pinnacle of teenage pettiness.

It was about time to take action. Any more than this and they would give her far too much leniency to have even more upper hands over them.

Taking a deep breath, the windows of the classroom flung open as a call went through to Nori rather than a text. In the mere moments after, Kana threw the entirety of her bodyweight on Eri to knock the both of them to the ground and taking that slight second of advantage to violently propel her phone out the now-open windows and onto the ground.

As second years, this would certainly mark the doom of this phone, no matter how recent it was. Or in fact, possibly because it was recent, especially since Kana took extra care to ensure it would be dealt maximum damage by the lovely forces of gravity.

Someone with a lack of physical aptitude like Kana certainly needed tactics like this to subdue her adversary, and with the phone gone it would certainly mark the end of her upper hand. With this in mind, she shouted loudly for the phone's microphone to pick up:

“Kinoshita-san, I'm with one of the culprits in 2-C! It's that Eri girl from earlier! Call Kira-san and make sure she keeps an eye out for a phone I just threw out the window!” She shouted while trying to restrain the girl to the best of her rather lackluster capabilities.

Re: [SS] Through the Eyes of the Silent Dolls

“Things seem to have gotten quite out of control, Kohaku-san.”

The two of them heard that voice loud and clear. How could they not? A voice could carry quite far when there was no other noise or solid objects to dampen it.

“The school’s security is going to make its move at this point. I have you so, it might just be time to cut our losses and leave at this point.”

“I wouldn’t worry about that if I were you.”

Kohaku stared into the class rep’s eyes and relaxed. He was showing no obvious signs of lying and even if he were lying, there would be no real benefit for him.

“Then you’re sticking with me for now.” With that curt and short sentence, she started walking.

She really had no time to react. She was caught off guard. As soon as she felt her victory was assured, though, things began to go wrong.

Her head immediately shifted towards the opened windows in question as soon as she heard them.

Never let your guard down, even when victorious.

In that moment of hubris and distraction, she felt herself thrown onto the floor and her hand letting go of the phone before it slid out slightly. Before she could grab onto her trump card, she watched it thrown out the window while she was restrained.

“DAMN YOU, YOU BITCH!”

She cried out and struggled trying to bring her arms up to strike at Kana’s head, but she was being restrained too much.

Instead, she quickly shifted her weight over to one side and pushed one leg out slightly to knock Kana off balance. With that balance brought off, she aimed her now freed fist towards Kana’s neck. Kana was now a liability. She’d knock that liability out here and now.

Nanami’s pupils immediately constricted when she heard that cry. She had already clicked ‘send’ so the video file was well on its way onto Nori’s phone.

Her current plan was now completely blown out of the water. Calculated revenge and ostracism was a teenage girl’s specialty but all it took was a single gear to throw a plan out of whack.

“Dammit!” Nanami struggled to stifle the urge to throw her fist onto the ground in frustration. “What’re we supposed to do now?!”

Clenching her teeth, but with with a look of complete fear and desperation in eyes that stood at stark contrast to the forced confidence she held before, she looked towards Nori, hoping for even the slightest of advice from her now accomplice.

The moment Nori answered his phone he could hear the struggling going on in the background. Kana's message had gotten through to him loud and clear. Eri had lost her phone and at least for the moment she was being restrained in 2-C. Two of his current problems had been resolved in an instant and he couldn't be happier. Not only had Eri lost blackmail but now he knew exactly where she was. Completely oblivious to the look of fear and desperation that had spread across Nanami face, Nori began to flip through his phone for Kira's contact as a dark grin spread across his face and a mischievous spark came to life in his eyes.

"Perfect~"

However, his thought process was suddenly cut short when the frustrated outcry of the girl in front of him reached his ears. Confused, he look up from his phone and made eye contact with her as she ask the question. What are we suppose do to now? He thought the answer was very simple, they needed to get to 2-C. Kana had Eri restrained but there was no saying how long that would last so they needed to get there quickly. Panicking now would just slow them down and he honestly had no patience for it.

"Calm down, the situation has turned in our favor not gotten worse. We didn't lose the blackmail you have on the Eri so nothing has been lost but we have to hurry to 2-C to help Kana. So come on!"

Nori responded with cold but hurried tone and as he finished his statement he turn around, grabbed Nanami's wrist, and began moving to 2-C at a quick pace dragging the girl along with him. With his other hand he called Kohaku.

"Kira-san! Eri is here and currently being restrained by Kana in 2-C. I'm making my way over there now but I need you to keep a eye out for the phone. It felt out one of the windows in 2-C."

There was one thing that was amazing about the human mind and that was its ability to perceive and understand things. Indeed, whether from a psychological affliction or just overall personality, one could picture things that either weren't there, or simply not in the way they were being perceived by the person.

“Ugh! Why you...!”

Kana raised her arms to protect her neck and face, and taking advantage of the slight distance put between the two, she tried her best to throw a very solid kick in Eri's stomach. If she could knock the air out of her, it'd help Kana take the upper hand despite her lack of physical prowess.

Now, in this specific case, Kana had wanted to imagine herself that this was a battle with the stakes of her so-far almost perfect scholarship; an open threat to her given image of a productive society member who'd climbed the ranks through sheer hard work and to her goal in life to never stand under anyone else if she could help it.

And it was.

But what was the reality of this battle of wits that would decide of Kana's scholar and social future for the rest of the world? To be honest, because she had no personal stakes in the matter of the dolls that had almost bullied the school in recent weeks, it was nothing that glorious.

So for the average passerby, moreso than a show of determination, it would likely currently look closer to two teenage idiots brawling over the last model of a popular handbag during shopping sales than anything else. The kind where you would just shake your head and peacefully wait for security to arrive because getting involved would be like begging for all sorts of migraines.

Nonetheless, these were shameful displays that Kana would have to ponder on later. In the meanwhile, she tried best she could to grab Eri's hair to tug on it harshly enough to be given an opportunity to get back up using her opponent's head.

Subtlety and stealth be damned, apparently. At this point, it was honestly a surprise that the security personnel had yet to make any moves. Even with her contingencies in place, nothing could mask the sound of teenagers yelling at each other from across a hallway (and ceilings).

“W-wait!”

Nanami’s futile resistance was unfortunately overcome entirely as Nori began to pull her down the direction to 2-C.

“We can’t just charge in there!”

Her reluctance to rush to the scene continued to echo as she tried her best to pull back against the boy who kept her wrist contained.

Not to mention, 2-C was the last place she needed to be right now. Doing that would…

Not only was her attack blocked, but she was placed in even further disadvantage as she felt the wind being knocked out of her lungs as Kana’s knee firmly pushed up against her diaphragm.

Dammit! Dammit!

There were few things more humiliating than the position she was in right now. Being thrown off by the person she was trying to control. Losing all control she had in an instant. Being under the feet of that very same person.

This bitch. I’LL KILL HER!

She needed to create that turnabout now. She needed room to escape. But she no longer could anymore. Her hair was being grabbed. She was being tugged and manhandled. She was in Kana’s grasp.

But even so, that was hardly the end of it.

“DON’T MESS WITH ME!” With a roar, she forced herself straight into as close a distance as possible, leaving Kana’s arms and her hair some slack before she finally returned the favor by grabbing at her hair and jamming her knee in the exact same location.

At this point, it didn’t matter if she lost some hair for this. It was a necessary sacrifice.

Re: [SS] Through the Eyes of the Silent Dolls

Post  Kinoshita Nori on Tue Jan 30, 2018 4:30 am

Wait? Why the hell would they wait?! They knew where Eri was and that she had lost her blackmail. This was the perfect time to strike but if they waited to long it was possible that Eri could over power Kana and make her escape. Sure, he might've already had blackmail of his own against her now because of Nanami but he still wanted to crush any hope she had of escaping. He wanted to strike fear in her heart so that she would never think about challenging him again.

In a way it could be said that Nori and Eri were very similar individuals and maybe that is why they came to despise each other. They extend their authority through intimidation, blackmail, and other under handed tactics without remorse. The ideas of forgiveness and mercy didn't exist in Nori's dictionary and it seems they weren't in Eri's either. Defeating those who opposed you wasn't just about winning the small battles but was about crushing their morale, destroying their life, and making certain that they would never even dream of opposing them again. It was in these ways that they appeared to be similar and in the current circumstance their actions were like trying to fight fire with fire.

Unfortunately, even though Nori realized this he didn't care. Part of him love the chaos, and another part of him was certain that when he collided with Eri that he was going to come out on top. Maybe it was false confidence or maybe his malicious intent had completely drowned any doubt in his mind about his victory. Either way the result of their collision would be found out soon enough, or at least it would've if not for the complaints of the girl he was dragging around with him.

"Why the hell not?! The target has been restrained and is just within our grasp, yet you want to wait? Is there something you know that you haven't shared with me already?! Because right now Kana is struggling to keep that demon girl restrained and there is no telling how long that will last. So if you know something that would change my mind share it now or be silent"

"The target" that was what Eri had become in the blue boy's mind and Nanami was quickly becoming an obstacle that was in his way. Maybe he was making too many assumptions as he believed the route of Nanami's resistance was her fear of Eri and it was getting on his nerves. What happened to all the bravery that had driven her to break into the school? Did it all get thrown out the moment her plan fell apart? Pathetic. His growing irritation would reveal itself in his voice but to avoid giving away their approach he kept his voice down. He would continue his pace towards Kana's location unless Nanami gave him a reason not too.

“Ghk!!!” Kana groaned at the copied reprisal, struggling to formulate any reply with the way the air in her lungs had been kicked out of her system. She was having considerable difficulty breathing because of it, and the fact that her hair was being pulled didn't give her any leeway to compose herself.

As such, the only thing she could do while trying her best to keep a firm grip and pull on Eri's hair was to scan the room; frantically looking for anything she could use to get an upper hand and praying that Nori would get here soon.

Or, at the very least, that Kohaku would get rid of the falsely incriminating evidence against them.

(...There!)

Kana's eyes finally landed on an ideal “support” weapon and she merely tugged harder at Eri's hair in order to gather some concentration and send the item flying at her head. That item was a resting chalkboard eraser; ideal weapon because it would hurt to receive it in the head at full speed, but not enough to cause any lasting damage.

For all she needed was simply leeway and hopefully support.

In the end, she was going to cause more trouble. That’s all that it boiled down to. Her own indecisiveness and her inability to open up to anyone was going to cause people more trouble.

Nanami truly was a pathetic young girl.

In the end, all she could do was half-ass every step she took. After all, she would never be able to press forward on her own decisions at this rate. Setting up contingency after contingency would only lead to opportunities flying away. Such was reality.

“F-fine. We’ll proceed.”

That was all she could muster to say anymore. She would continue to let herself be pulled around by the whims of others.

In the end, she truly was a pathetic young girl.

THUNK.

That was the last thing she had heard as her head was suddenly pushed forward by something slamming into her occiput at full force. She was hardly even sure what it was that hit her and frankly, it didn’t matter at this point.

“Gah….”

The strength to keep on fighting left her as her limbs went limp and her consciousness and vision began to grow hazy. Combine with the headache and it was likely that she had been given a concussion.

Her head finally dropped in almost perfect synchronicity with her arms and her last remnants of resistance had finally given out.

“Wha...”

Though still conscious, she could only eke out that utterance as her scrambled brain struggled to slowly reset her consciousness.

"Tch"

There was no satisfying Nori, it never truly matter how Nanami had responded to his questions because either way he was going to be unhappy. If she had given him a reasonable reason to stop he would’ve been angry that he couldn't get Eri and even though she had told him to proceed he was now irritated that the girl didn't have the guts to stand up for her position the moment he challenged it. Honestly, he had been quite harsh with his tone and words when questioned her motives for wanting to stop but as far as he was concerned she should’ve held her ground despite this. Everytime she showed weakness or cowardice Nori became more irritable, he wasn't even sure why. Maybe it was because Eri had already drained all the patience he had and there was nothing left to spare for Nanami anymore. At the moment it really didn't matter since their goal was just in front of them but when this was over he planned on sharing a few words with the cowardly girl.

The masked villain wasn't going to give a proper vocal response to Nanami approval instead his grip on the girl's arm tightened slightly and his pace increased. He had wasted enough time dealing with his companions hesitation and there was no telling how Kana was holding up against his target. There was going to be hell to pay if Eri had gotten away by the time he got there but at the very least he still had the blackmail. He had to hope that Kohaku had retrieved the demon girl's phone since he only had the advantage if he had the blackmail and she didn't. A stalemate wasn't acceptable, he was either going to beat her or be bested though he had no intention of letting her win regardless of the cost.

As such as Kana and Eri came into sight a demonic grin spread across his face. Down the hall he saw as eraser began to move due to what he assumed was Kana's ability. It wasn't a very practical weapon but it would still give her the advantage in the current situation. As the girl swung the eraser to Eri’s head he released Nanami arm and took off into a sprint towards his enemy. It was only shortly after she had been hit that the villain was in range.

Unless the demon girl dodged she would find herself torn off Kana as the pitcher grabbed her by the back of her shirt and threw her off his ally, towards the ground. He had no intention of showing mercy but at the same time he had to make sure he didn't leave any marks he could be held accountable for. There was also the issue of the cameras, which he had no way of telling if they had been altered by Kana before he fight began. As frustrating as it was he had to stick to restraining Eri for now since being caught on camera maliciously attacking a fellow student wouldn’t end well for him. He could justify his first attack since the demon girl was attacking Kana but he wouldn't be able to justify anything else unless she attacked first. He was a bit tempted to let this happen so he could get revenge but it wasn't worth risking in the end.

He quickly moved towards his target, who was hopefully still dazed, and would attempt to force her on to her stomach before pulling her arms behind her back. At the same time he targeted her hands with his ability and lowered their temperature to the point where her nerves would become sensitive due to restricted blood flow but not enough to do actually damage. With her already dazed he was almost certain that he would be able to hold her in this position.

"Good to see you again~"

Far too occupied with her ongoing struggle, Kana had failed to hear Nori's arrival. Instead, she had to fully sense it as the weight that had been on top of her was forcibly torn away, leaving Kana to somewhat backtrack against a wall for support, panting whilst her companion... “handled” this young girl in quite a threatening way for this usually seemingly docile boy.

As the adrenaline of her battle gradually left her body, her usual composure was returning as well. Finally standing up on her feet, Kana dusted off her clothes and readjusted her hair while slightly coughing underneath her hand as if to gather a semblance of dignity after that disgraceful display.

“Ahem. That's what you get for poorly picking your fights.” Leaving Eri in the intimidating hands of Nori, Kana pulled her phone out of her pocket – very thankful at the lack of noticeable damage on it – and composed the number of their other ally. “Ah, Kira-san? We've captured the culprit, or well, one of the culprits. Did you manage to find the phone?”

Re: [SS] Through the Eyes of the Silent Dolls

Post  Kira Kohaku on Wed Mar 14, 2018 6:04 am

“I’m hardly the best person to run after something here, you know.” Kohaku could only pant out her words as she ran down the stairs. Suffice it to say that she was hardly the most athletic person in existence. “It’s still where I saw it land so I should be able to get to it in about another couple of minutes.”

Kohaku could only hope that they didn’t ask how she knew that as she clearly wasn’t in the proper state for giving an explanation. Though, if that scenario happened, she could at least say she had some form of a method in mind.

To call the whole incident a catastrophe was an understatement. Eri’s advantage had been thrown out the window (quite literally, she might add) and she was being completely restrained by the feral boy who had attacked her earlier.

At least, that’s what that instant of lucidity she got when she was restrained had told her. She could hardly make out what the two had said to her but if she had to guess, they were probably (rightly) making their respective victory struts.

She could barely form words with her mouth so all she could do was sigh as she watched the scene unfold while she started to fade out. The problem was at the corner of her eye, she could see a fourth, unexpected party standing at the corner of the door.

But her reaction to this last party, was hardly what one would have expected. Nanami was nothing more than her doormat after all. She was just standing there with one hand on a smartphone. Her reaction should not have been a complete sympathetic nervous response. Yet, her heart was beating. Her breathing sped up. Her body was beginning to feel damp with sweat.

And it was all because of one reason.

Because she simply saw that girl’s eyes.

Without much more time, the girl then simply passed out.

Re: [SS] Through the Eyes of the Silent Dolls

Post  Kinoshita Nori on Sat Mar 17, 2018 10:31 pm

Something was wrong and the hairs on the back of Nori's neck began to stand up. The villain had been paying extra special attention to Eri since he had to be prepared if she tried anything to escape. Yet instead of picking up on any signs of actually resistance he noticed what seemed like a sudden spike of the activity in her fight or flight response. At first glance, the spike made completely sense since she was being restrained and her plan had fallen apart but upon quickly reevaluating the situation the masked villain realized something bizarre.

The pupil dilation, increase in breathing rate, and sweating had all occurred after she had seemingly given up on resistance. Unfortunately, he never got the opportunity to confirm his suspicions as only a moment later his enemy slipped into unconsciousness. "Damn it" Muttering under his breath Nori released his grip on the girl, there was no point in restraining her anymore. The whole situation was thoroughly disappointing. the whole confrontation was over before it even began. Slowly Nori raised himself back to his feet picking up Eri and tossing her over his shoulder. Carrying the girl was going to slow him down significantly but they couldn't just leave her in the school hallway even if he wanted to.

"Well that solves one of our problems but we still need to get the phone. What did Kira-san have to say?" As he finished his sentence he would turn his attention to Nanami. "So how does it feel for your revenge to be so close at hand?" Being completely honest the boy was just looking to see what kind of reaction he could get out of Nanami. There were still many things he didn't know about this girl and while he seemed to know why she was here he still had no idea how she got in. He was going to have to question the girl later but for now he needed to prioritize something else.

"Now then, since this problem has been dealt with we can return to looking for the culprit behind the dolls"

While he wished Eri had been the culprit as far as he could tell it was highly unlikely. If she was responsible for the dolls then there would've been no need for her to take a picture of him with the camera she bought. Using the cameras in the dolls would've gotten the job done in a much safer and covert manner. So as far as the villain was concerned that fact that she showed up at the school at night to take a picture of him eliminated her as a suspect.

“She hasn’t retrieved it yet, but it shouldn’t take much longer; she knows where it is, at the very least.

Reassured at the at least temporary confirmation that her perfect score would be maintained, Kana was very quick to regain composure, only slightly minding her dishevelled appearance. The only thing she could spare before they would all leave to address the fundamental issue of finding the true mastermind behind this doll ploy was but a mere look of pity towards Eri. She had, indeed, chosen the wrong adversaries in this battle.

“Hold up, Kinoshita-san, I think it might be worthwhile for you to explain who this girl is before proceeding.” She lightly turned her head towards. “What’s this about revenge?”
