Should we drop A Certain Masked Man?
Re: [?] A Certain Masked Man OOC
Actually Iva has been thinking. Right now the progress on the Kita & Taichi side is pretty fast paced, all the while Mugino & Koyoko side is slowing down, given the actual fast pacedness of the IC events. Looking at my personal inability to produce sufficiently readable posts right now and my declining pace, I would kind of ask you, Guy, Alex and Mura, to give us a bit room for development, like say…allow us to pull ahead a little in thread progress by slowing down activities on the other side.
I know it’s a bit much to ask, but we’re kinda in a place where we’re about to fall behind in terms of actual ic progress, since, as we all know, fights tend to break down posts to seconds worth of events. So would you grant us the chance~?

I'm okay with giving you guys more time, though I'm just concerned about leaving Alex and Mura with nothing to do in the meantime, so we may need to brainstorm something for your characters to do while they make their way to the warehouse.
On that note though, I don't want to push you into hurrying, but it would either be yourself or Koyoko next up if Alex and Mura are holding off.

We can hold off for now until the time seems right. We just basically got warned by Antiskill, so I don’t think it’s right for anyone to jump right back in anyway.

Besides Nats paying for the Yoko medical bills, should I go ahead and post or wait on Mugino-chan?

The cat sent her minions, tied me up and put me back to my desk so I can post in the OOC. I am currently typing with only my nose.
Gonna post today or tomorrow depending on how work goes today. Can someone set me free?

Re: [?] A Certain Masked Man OOC
As announced via private channels, I updated my post. This one is a 100% rewrite, so don't mind the old one at all.
Re: [?] A Certain Masked Man OOC
Natsumi, I believe it's your post next. Do you want a moment for your character and Koyoko to collect their thoughts or am I okay to have the Masked Man catch up to them in my next post? I'm thinking it would help maintain momentum but if you have something in mind for Natsumi and Koyoko's exchange then I can hold off.
EDIT: Just to make it clear, I'm not bothered whether the Masked Man manages to acquire the bag or not. The plot can proceed either way, so if you guys put up a good enough resistance this fight is entirely winnable. Though it would obviously be best if we give Kita and Oda a chance to get involved.

Posted, leaving a rather problematic situation for the cat. Though if there is a problem with his set of actions that you guys don't like, then i can change it.

Hello there everyone, a single line of blue shall be infiltrating this ocean of orange. 'pologies, Nats, your haven, your oasis has now been sullied. Or, as I would put it: improved. Ehehehehe.
As noted in the Absence Thread, Iva is currently on an indefinite-until-further-notice absence, and the one blessed with the honor of NPCing Mugino Shizuri is none other than I. This ocean of orange, with a line of blue, shall soon be overwritten by green. Look forward to it, everyone. I shall offer you all the blessings of the Meltdowner without reserve!
Looking forward to RPing with all of you wonderful players and GMs, joining you in the search for the mysterious Masked Man! (M³? M²?)

Hi.
Though it is well aware of it being its turn (and having been for well over a week), the cat overlord regretfully informs you all that between kittysitting, conventions and arguing withentitled little assholes of a bank, it has not found much time to post recently.
And while it can't guarantee that a post will immediately come out after this one, it will try its best to get work done within the week.
You are now all disposed of.

No cats are without their slight bout of forgetfulness, so the cat overlord has edited its post to include a reaction to something it should've noticed if it weren't so focused on friendly damage.

Re: [?] A Certain Masked Man OOC
Right, that means it's either Koyoko or Mugino next.
After a bit of discussion I think it's about time that Kita and Oda make a reappearance, so after Koyoko and Mugino's posts you two are free to jump back in.

Posted. Longer than I thought I was making it.
If there are any issues with it, let me know and I'll correct them tomorrow ASAP. I didn't proof read it as it's late and I wanna sleep
Mugino can post next if they wish.

Re: [?] A Certain Masked Man OOC
Hey guys, since it seems Oda is returning I’m still trying to figure out how to solve his previous problem of acting too much of a protagonist? I think Natsume mentioned before, so I’m seeking advice how to improve this situation. Any ideas? And basically what to avoid.

Re: [?] A Certain Masked Man OOC
Tough question to answer, really. A lot of it boils down to character and player interaction.
As a general rule, you mostly want to avoid making your posts strictly about your characters (their motives, thoughts, actions, etc). As in, providing insight from your character's perspective is important, yes, but if you start pushing it too much and making the entirety of your character's involvement nothing else but focusing on what they can do, without helping the other characters stand out a little, then it becomes an issue where you're using every other post as fuel to show off your own character rather than collaboratively write.
Basically, try to keep your involvement at the same pace as other people unless requested otherwise to step up and lead things onwards. Otherwise you're mostly taking attention away from the rest of the cast by making your characters almost de-facto leaders who acknowledge other people's posts but fail to give them any importance beyond that, and the average player isn't going to know how to react in any other way than mere subordinates, which is a little unfair for threads where everyone should have an equal shot at development.
Even more basically, try to actually help others take a bit of spotlight without necessarily making Taichi the leader of the group that instructs people for some reason.
What helps with this the most, you ask?

Constant communication with your peers, though not at a point of ridiculously stalling things just to get everyone's input~!

Re: [?] A Certain Masked Man OOC
It's a good question and as much of a cop-out as it is for me to say 'you just get a feeling for it' it is one of those things that defies a clear, precise explanation. In short it requires a little practice to get down.
For me, it's a matter of leaving opportunities open for other players. Despite what you may think, I tend to prefer my characters playing supporting roles for just this reason. An example would be the finale of Arc 2 where we had several players taking part in the battle with Izzard. It would have been easy for me to throw Guy into the protagonist role and have him take on Izzard single handedly, leaving the others to mop up in supporting roles.
Instead, I purposely stepped back and had him offer advice in a strategic role, (this fit his character better anyway, so it was no problem from my perspective) and even in that regard, the other players had the option to ignore his suggestion (as I seem to recall Haragi did. Without derailing that opens another can of worms). This didn't mean Guy as a character had nothing to do, he still contributed in minor ways to that fight, but it specifically gave the other players and NPCs room to do their own thing and take actions that contributed heavily towards the fight.
I also seem to recall that the other players' input threw me a few curve balls as far as GMing was concerned, so I had to think on my feet a couple of times to keep it from all falling apart. How well I did that is a matter of opinion, but I like to think it at least came together without feeling too forced. But again, that's a derail for another time.
Of course one could put forward a good argument for me falling into protagonist syndrome for the end of Arc 3 and that's something I was well aware of at the time. But even in that case, I aimed to give every character their chance to shine by contributing to the overall scene. Natsumi and Kuroko dealing with Mari for instance, or Mikoto and Imouto stepping in at the end to face off against Accelerator when all hope seemed lost. And precisely because I'd made Guy seem so useless and ineffectual before, it gave him an important character moment where he finally got to do something cool (and not fuck it up )
The point I keep coming back to when writing all my posts is to think about what would make a fun, exciting story to read as someone who's not involved in the thread. It's kinda boring to see one character constantly solve everything themselves. We have a name for that.
But as Natsumi says, a lot of these problems can be solved with communication. We fiscussed the end of Arc 3 pretty heavily in the run up to the actual fight so we were sort of on the same page and knew what our characters would be doing for the most part. In terms of this thread, if you have an idea, post it in the OOC.
For a very loose and poorly thought out example:
"I'm thinking Oda can run in and take the Masked Man hand to hand. What do you think about having (Kita, Koyoko, Natsumi etc) provide some covering fire or a distraction?"
Or simply
"Anyone got any ideas how we should deal with him?"
But I'm rambling now, so I'll shut up. Give your fellow players lots of options and focus on how your actions work in a group dynamic. Involve them in your posts and actions even.

No problem.
So, now that we're folding Oda and Kita back into the current scene, who wants to post next?

Re: [?] A Certain Masked Man OOC
As much as I fancy myself the idea of reacting to being manhandled by a tall, freakishly smiling creep, I think I'll let the others take a turn before reacting since him escaping Mugino doesn't give me a whole lot. I don't plan to open the psychotic hostilities right away since I wouldn't want to take Mugino's aggro off him.
So while either Kita and Taichi can go ahead in their own scene, I'm not too fussed if Yokkun and Muggun get another turn unless they want me to post next.
