Kita Tsukiko

As Kita stepped away from the staff member, heeding the staff members advice to check the arcade across the way it felt like something was missed. But with that appreciative response and a quick wave closed the door on that opportunity forever as the staff member returned deeper into his place of work before disappearing. But the world wasn't some linear narrative that the path stopped there, no matter how good you were there would always be traces left behind. It all depends on the person who is seeking to find that path and how open they were to the world.

And in this busy shopping centre where numerous of students were rushing about the sound of footsteps was often loud. But was it enough to cover the feeling and sound of plastic being stepped on and slightly cracking as Kita walked towards the other arcade? If so what she would see was those two photo booths, once was empty and the other seemed to be still in use. Either one could be what she was looking for, but it seems this wouldn't be so straightforward.

Ario & Amizo

Sometimes the right action would be doing nothing at all and not be protesting their actions was akin to doing nothing to their deplorable behaviour. Nothing happened to Oda yet, and it wasn't even sure he was ready for it. Though he had this usual habit of opening and close his hands like he was warming up his muscles.

Either way and somehow the one disguised as Amizo had managed to wade through, this little situation that could've seen a fight break out. And so without much changing, they soon would find themselves closer to Joseph's cafe. But there was a problem. Oda knew that even his different dress sense wouldn't fool Junko. So if he really was in the cafe he should be careful about approaching it and so he shouldn't be in the lead. But because he was short-sighted, distance objects without his glasses was blurred and while he can make out the cafe from the colours of its signs; spotting Junko before he gets seen was a different story..

"Boyyy, my shoelace is untied." Oda said which was a blatant lie, but he moved fast enough at least for the skill-out members not to notice. Though they made slight comments it wasn't anything too bad as those who were walking by his side stopped as the guy with Minako moved past as they reached cafe. Oda clearly intended to use Minako's charms to distract the gazes from himself.

And as he followed them making sure to stay a bit behind Minako, the boy with her showed her towards were a large guy with blonde straight hair was sitting with three other lads. They seem to be hanging out and in such a manner that they screamed outcasts.

"Junko, do you know these people?" The one with Minako said as the large guy with blonde straight hair reacted he wore no school uniform but something casual. He didn't seem threatening at the moment but just a gaze of pure confusion. "Not really, but what did she want from me?" Junko asked which confirmed Oda's plan to stay out of sight worked. But clearly this wouldn't last and he couldn't just tell Minako what to do next, yet they never really thought this entirely through. They probably didn't expect to find him this easy and so whatever happened next solely rested on Minako's shoulders.

[SS] The Ballad of the Oddities - Page 5 Empty Re: [SS] The Ballad of the Oddities

As Kita walked away, the sound of crunching plastic barely got her attention. The arcade was loud with bustling kids, but there was something about the sound that stood out. It didn't sound like a cup or wrapper being crushed underfoot. She turned around and looked around before she saw something in the middle of the center. She walked over to it, weaving quickly past passersby, before kneeling down and picked it up. After staring at what was left of pancaked plastic, Kita realized it looked strangely enough like a pager. Like the one that was handed to Tsuru before they split up. "Goddamnit, Tsuru. Now's not the time to be playing hide and seek..."

She stood up and looked around, trying to find the booth Tsuru was investigating before. If he was suddenly gone, then that meant that she had to pick up after him and test one last booth before moving on to the other arcade. Besides, maybe something will be there with which she could guess where he went. Eventually she found what looked like the right booth with the currents opened. It looked normal enough, but the fact that it had been empty since they got to the arcade seemed a little odd. So, she stepped inside and closed the curtains before actually trying out the machine. But nothing happened cause it looked like it was out of power. "Piece of crap." Shaking her head, she stepped out and took a look around. If the problem is fixable, she needed to get it done as soon as possible. At this point, she was wasting time just standing there.

Minako continued to walk towards the cafe, so apparently her comment rendered her would be assailant speechless. That was a plus, as was Oda suddenly being closer to her, no wait behind her. Oh crud. She was taking the lead again, this really wasn't following their earlier plans. She was supposed to sit back as he took the lead. He was more experienced in these matters after all! At the sight of the impending Cafe, Mina felt her pulse quicken and her breath became more rapid. They made it this far, with a lot of luck. This was going to get trickier than ever. One wrong move, and it could spell disaster.

So they had finally found Junko, or the man who claimed to be him. And he confirmed that he didn't know them. Crap, crap, crap! What was she to do? How should she handle this?

A brief moment passed, and she decided to once again go with her gut. Minako huffed in annoyance as she shrugged out of the blonde guy's arm. "She has a name, and can speak for herself." Mina took a few tentative steps towards Junko. "My name is Amizo, and I believe we have some business to discuss." She glanced behind her, annoyed that the brute was still hovering behind her. "Preferably in private." She turned her body slightly, so that her side was facing Junko. She kept him in her line of sight out of the corner of her eye. Unconsciously she folded her arms in front of her, feeding that annoyed status she previously had conjured up.

Kita Tsukiko

There was no warning signs, or any indication to explain why there is no power. However, it didn't take long after a quick observation that the plug was connected. It seems someone had unplugged that machine from the nearby building pillar. But it wasn't something that seemed to be done on purpose, the gap between the plug on the pillar and the machine was wide enough for anyone to pass through.

And people seemed to tend to squeeze through any small gap even if it means cutting travel time. Sure it was a simple and somewhat petty thing, but people always tend to seek the quickest route naturally, so it wasn't farfetched. And it had looked like the plug came out upon someone stepping on the wire so replugging it should solve the problem.

While nothing had happened so far, it seems the other machine had its curtain's closed all this time as well. Had someone been in there all this time? That would require closer inspection.

Ario & Amizo

"Preferably in private."

Those words sealed what would happen next, mainly because Junko seemed worried that this stranger claimed to have business with him yet he knew nothing about it. Was she sent by someone he knew? The truth yeah, but not exactly someone he would consider a friend.

"Sure, let's take this a bit less public," Junko said as those with him begun to grab the one known as Amizo and started to lead her outside the fire exit into the alleyway forcefully. And just before the door was closed, she would see Oda being surrounded by the three lads who brought them here. What would happen to him was unknown as the fire exit closed on Minako.

Isolated and confronted by three lads, one of them being Junko pushed her forward into the alleyway before speaking to the girl disguised as Amizo.

"So who sent you? Was it Haru? Riku? And what do they want? What business?" Junko seemed to have started panicking, his emotions seemed to be in flux and were a clear sign he had been under the effect of that music.

[SS] The Ballad of the Oddities - Page 5 Empty Re: [SS] The Ballad of the Oddities

Post  Kuramoto Minako Thu Mar 29, 2018 11:30 pm

Minako watched in horror as she was ushered away from Oda. She had hoped that in private meant that she and Oda would work as a team. Perhaps alone with Junko, alas this was not going according to plan. Nervously she bit her lip, as they pushed her through the door. However, she couldn't show this weakness. Not now. As quickly as the panic rose, the facade of disinterest came back to her. Yes, her pulse was rapid and it felt as if she was going to pass out. However, this was bigger than just herself. The fate of others depended upon her. She couldn't fail!

When Junko thrust her into the alleyway, she stumbled catching her balance. "You know, it wouldn't kill you to treat a lady gently." She retorted with a small hair flip, a playful annoyance coloring her voice. "Sheesh, you really ought to relax."

Yeah, that was advice she really needed to take herself. What was she supposed to tell him. She didn't know those people, nor which ones were deemed friend or foe. So being vague got them this far, perhaps it could work again? Perhaps she could even play a bit off of the bad blood between Espers and Skill-Out.

"Who sent me doesn't matter. It is the matter of my visit that is of utmost importance." Minako crossed an arm over her chest as she pointed at Junko with her right hand. "Rumor has it that someone has it out for you. Espers, specifically." A small grin played at the corners of her mouth. "There is a rumor that there is something interfering with Espers in the city. Music that is causing them to become angry until a sudden burst of violence." At this point Mina lowered her hand and kept her eyes locked onto Junko's. She didn't dare look at the others with him, she would lose her nerve.

"It wouldn't be the first time the upper level administration of Academy City have tried to cover their tracks by using us as fodder." She raised an eyebrow, hopefully adding some dramatic effect to her little speech. "A conspiracy. They're somehow using something to frame us, and if you've got ears everywhere like you claim. You have to know where it is at, or at least some hunch of where to look."

Again Minako crossed her arms, trying to look defiant rather than petulant. "It's about time someone stops them, and I'm not going to let them abuse us level Zeros anymore."

Well, lets hope a potential conspiracy theory would be enough to drive Junko to divulge and secrets he knows. Minako thought to herself, as her pulse began to quicken once again.

Upon a quick scan, Kita saw that the machine was just unplugged. She walked over and plugged it back in, looking back at the machine and giving a quick eye roll and head shake. "I swear, if that was the only problem..." She looked around before returning to the machine, sitting inside, and closing the curtains behind her as a small precaution. Taking a deep breath, she pulled out her phone and headphones again before switching back to the radio station.

"Power's plugged in, and I didn't see anything that was glaring, so maybe this will work this time around." Part of her wish that it didn't though. The less that she had to listen to the station's potentially maddening song the better. With that in mind, however, she braced herself and pushed play.

Kita Tsukiko

The machine had turned on, and the options appeared, but upon playing that music, something had changed. A corruption message occurred, the strange inaudible sound reacted to the music, and the effect occurred like it has numerous times.

But it wasn't the usual anger reaction that often showed up by playing this music. A sense of panic overcame Kita, and without warning, she ran out of the photo booth as if something was chasing her before disappearing into the crowds. Despite the busy surroundings, only one who was genuinely watching, the same girl who had watched Tsuru and a smile while seeing Kita run away. Turning to her phone, she sent a simple message.

"We only need one more!"

Ario & Amizo

Back at the restaurant, Junko was listening to Minako as inside Oda had to leave it. He didn't want to create a scene in the restaurant and left while being followed by two of Junko's friends who had remained with him. The street outside was very busy and noisy, which in Oda's mind was a good thing. Anything that could happen like the playing of the music would be limited in effectiveness. From what he understand so far that the power only works on certain sound waves, this being the music being played. But what he didn't understand was the involvement of the broken machine? Either way, he was coming up to the alleyway which was blocked by a metal fence, but that wasn't an issue as he turned he saw Minako being confronted by Junko and his crew.

At that same time, Junko's phone chimed and checked to see that he got a message. With a smile, the panic expression faded instantly as activates a radio app on his phone.

"That's a lovely story about a citywide conspiracy. But to be honest with you its only about a girl who wants people too only listen and I love her for it."

Junko said as he was about to play the music, Oda rattled the fence, creating as much noise as possible before shouting towards Junko.

"JUNKOOOOOO!" Oda roared with anger as the music begun playing, the colliding soundwaves from everything in that alleyway, the anger in the Judgement member's voice, the anger in Junko from seeing Oda and the distance stare in Minako's eyes. The music engulfed the alleyway as Oda went on a rampage against Junko's thugs, the music finally had taken them all.

And so the concert begins...

Chapter 3
The curtain rises..

When under the effect of the music it can feel like you lost control. That someone else was on the wheel of your actions. You're not entirely aware of what you do at that moment, and you do it as if it feels like a routine. And for Minako that's how it felt, she doesn't entirely remember when she got here, but she knew she had to come.

Where was she? It was a massive hall filled with many students, drinking, socialising with each other and seemed to be having a great time. In some way, this felt like one big party being thrown. The large table on the far left was full of food and beverages. At the end was a stage with a mic, it seems some performance would soon be played and besides it was a door to the backstage.

Within the crowd, there was a Tokiwadai student who looked standoffish, some individuals who would belong with Junko's crew, girl sobbing on her own near the beverages and some high schoolers having a good time.

Finally, there was clear exit sign behind at an outside door. No one was guarding it, so they were free to go, but what would Minako do now that she was at the concert.

[SS] The Ballad of the Oddities - Page 5 Empty Re: [SS] The Ballad of the Oddities

Post  Kuramoto Minako Tue Apr 10, 2018 2:37 pm

Minako's first thought was that she must have fallen asleep somehow. One minute she was talking with someone, then the next she was here. Wherever here was. She brought a hand up to her forehead and took a deep breath. Focus. What did she remember?

She remembered the mission, so to speak. Tsuru and Kita had teamed up as she and Oda had. They looked for a Skill-Out member named Junko, whom may or may not have had information to the strange occurrences. She closed her eyes, as Junko's final words echoed within her brain. He did know what was going on. The a soft melodic sound enraptured her senses, as if she had fallen into a slumber. Then she was here.

"Oda..." Mina said softly as she looked around the room. "Junko..." she spat the name as she continued to scan her surroundings. She didn't see either of them, yet. So either they were in the crowd, or being kept safely somewhere nearby. Minako lowered her hand and shuffled nervously. She was alone, and in this situation. It was a scary prospect, as she had gotten used to having someone near to comfort her. She couldn't think of that now. She was used to being a loner at Tokiwadai. She needed to gather more information, but who should she encounter first? Her first instinct was the Tokiwadai girl, as they shared that common bond. However, her heart told her to approach the girl sobbing.

Minako worked her way through the crowd until she was near the crying girl.

"Um... Excuse... me." Mina said softly, suddenly aware of how ridiculous she looked. "Are you... okay? What... happened?"

Perhaps this girl had some answers.

It was a simple question to answer, but the girl looked at Minako unable to respond straight away. What happened here wasn't something devastating that require action, it was the simple and possibly unavoidable damage this secret concert had caused. There was more than one broken machine that caused varied reactions to all those who attempted to reach here. But the sheer possibility that one had stumbled on this without realising the purpose wasn't impossible. And what happened here was just that, just the same experience Minko had felt coming here this girl had also experienced it.

And that in itself when you don't know what was going on is scary.

But there was more to it.

"I don't know where I am.. and ... he got angry for no reason. And hes.."

This young girl was crying over not only the confusion; but that a boy she had known suddenly turned hostile abruptly against her and while she was harmed it was shocking. And to make matters worse that boy was also here and avoiding the girl maybe out of shame. But to her, it had felt like she was abandoned. And while she tried to explain this to Minako she pointed out the boy in the corner near the table of snacks and beverages. He also seemed to be in middle school and look confused slightly but still managed to interact with others.

No matter how you look at it, it seemed like he had abandoned her in this situation. Meanwhile as this gos on the Tokiwadai girl in the room moved towards the stage and the door next to it leading to the back.

So, apparently the crying girl didn't have any real answers as well. All she could do was make out a boy, having done something to the girl. Fury boiled within her stomach, as Minako watched the boy, confused but otherwise alright. No, this wasn't his fault. Something else was going on here.

"Its..." What, was she going to say it was okay, because it wasn't. "It wasn't... him. The music... it did something to us." Mina murmured softly, as her eyes continued to scan the room. "Trust me, he is as confused as you are."

Minako placed a hand gently upon the upset girl's shoulder. "Go, talk to him. I know it is scary, but he doesn't know what he did. You shouldn't be alone, none of us should." Mina's eyes followed the Tokiwadai girl across the room and into the door. "Tell him what happened, and why you are scared. You will need a friend during this... confusing time." Mina tried to give the girl a reassuring smile, as she dropped her hand down to her side. Minako slowly backed away, and tried to work her way across the crowd. Laughter, cheers, and chatter filled the air as she weaved in and out of people.

Finally, she had reached the stage. She placed a hand upon it, using it to guide her towards the door. She had to get back there, and really find out what was going on. It was funny, all that stood between her now was a simple door. As her hand touched the cool metal of the doorknob, fear bubbled up within her. She wished that Oda was here, or Tsuru and Kita. She felt so alone. No, she had to do this.

With a new resolve she turned the handle and pushed on the door, hoping that it would finally lead her to some answers.

[SS] The Ballad of the Oddities - Page 5 Empty Re: [SS] The Ballad of the Oddities

Post  Oda Taichi Tue Apr 17, 2018 6:49 pm

There were unintended consequences to this concert and the mysterious music surrounding the urban legend. The situation with the crying girl was one of confusion and misunderstanding; stumbling into the concert, they were thrown into a situation that brought up many questions. There was no threat to one's life or any sense of danger just the confusion which can be scary in itself. And with Minako's advice, the fog of confusion started to clear at least regarding what was happening.

So after wiping her tears away, she gave a determined looked towards Minako before heading towards the boy in question. The look on his face as she approached was amusing, and as Minako approached that door, she could hear the argument that would follow mostly about how he made her feel insecure.

But that wasn't important for Minako at this moment; when she opened that door to the backstage, she would see something amusing.

The very least she would find one of her friends.

As the first thing she saw was the elephant in the room, there on the sofa was Tsuru laying on a girl's lap getting his ears cleaned. He seemed somewhat at peace, comfortable and the girl whose lap he was laying on was that Tokiwadai girl from earlier. Her hair was long and ginger, who also had big round amber eyes.

"Oh oh? This is truly embarrassing that you caught me in this private moment." the girl said who seemed to be treating Tsuru like a cute pet.

Post  Kuramoto Minako Fri Apr 20, 2018 3:28 am

Minako strode into the room, two confident steps before she felt as if she had been punched in the gut. A sharp intake of breath was all she could muster at this moment. Who was this girl? Why was Tsuru with her? Why was he putty in her palms? Above all, why was he so comfortable having her touch him?! Tsuru basically jumped out of his skin whenever Minako was around. Then again, how much did she truly know Tsuru they had only met just this afternoon.

"I... I see that." Minako recovered herself long enough to take in this Tokiwadai girl. She didn't look familiar to her, however she didn't know every student at the academy. Mina resisted the urge to wrap her arms around herself, but she kept her eyes locked upon this girl. Strangely enough, this red haired girl seemed to be the only one that had her senses about her. That had to be a sign... right?

Minako's eyes narrowed slightly, as she stared at the girl, daring not to look at the Tsuru puddle within her lap. "Who are you? What are you doing here?" This time Mina couldn't help herself as she pointed at the girl "And furthermore, why are we here?"

For one usually at a loss for words, Minako felt a surge of adrenaline coursing through her veins. She could hear her own heart beating rapidly within her ears. Keep calm, and watch everything, she told herself. Yes she needed to remember to follow her intuition, it got her this far.

[SS] The Ballad of the Oddities - Page 5 Empty Re: [SS] The Ballad of the Oddities

Post  Oda Taichi Wed Apr 25, 2018 1:30 am

"Why are we here? To enjoy the concert of course!" Yoritaka Erize had said with a smile, but it wasn't entirely warm as tension was present. Seeing another Tokiwadai student was something that even Yoritake had enjoyed. But she kept up that smile, knowing that maybe she could entertain someone even in her school. "It's time for me to go, young boy. I will return." Erize has sung gracefully in a lone tone towards Tsuru, though Minako could also hear it they both felt awash with happy and calming emotions. This occurred as Yoritaka carefully moved Tsuru off her lap and left him remaining on the sofa seeming content.

Standing up she took a step towards Minako before speaking. "My name is Yoritaka Erize, you can call me Erize if you want!" she said honestly as she looks towards Minko dying to ask the question. "So never seen you at school before, who could you be? But to tell you the truth, I have seen you running around with that Judgement brute? Could he be your boy..?" Yoritaka said the last word slowly to emphasise her curiosity. "..Friend?"

It was a simple question, but something that interested Yoritaka the most.

[SS] The Ballad of the Oddities - Page 5 Empty Re: [SS] The Ballad of the Oddities

Post  Kuramoto Minako Thu Apr 26, 2018 5:15 pm

The Tokiwadai girl's simple response to enjoy the concert was simple and graceful, yet years of dealing with the upper class made it easy to identify an underlying false pretense. Minako's own returning smile was just as shallow as the other girl's. "Right, how silly of me." Mina said as her eyes never left the red haired girl. Perhaps she should have averted her eyes, or perhaps close her ears because that sing song voice filtered into her ears unwantedly. It temporarily washed away her feelings of fear, doubt, and distrust.

Mina shook her head, trying to clear the fog within her own mind. "Erize-san." Minako said softly. It was a name she had heard once before, but couldn't identify from where. She wracked her brain as she tried to keep up with the current situation. "How did you know I was from Tokiwadai? I'm not wearing my uniform!" Minako covered her mouth. Oops, she let that one slip. Then again, Yoritaka already knew this, so perhaps it wasn't news to her. Then again, by admitting who she was could allow Erize to know the extent of her abilities. Perhaps she should lie about who she was, then again Erize could probably sense that lie and make her spill the truth regardless. Honesty was probably the safest course of action right now. Slowly her hand slipped from her mouth. "Kuramoto Minako. My friends call me Mina. You however may refer to me as Minako."

That was about as defiant as she dared to be right now. They were not friends, not yet. If this girl was truly responsible for all the panic and trouble, this could end badly. This girl could sing and somehow channel emotions within her audience. Minako's reverie was broken by Erize's sudden question. Minako stuttered incoherently, her face turning three shades of red. "No! Not at all!" Mina crossed her arms, and stared down Yoritaka-san. "Fate brought us together, to investigate what was happening."

Now was the time to finally get some answers, perhaps she could learn something. "Why did you organize this concert. And where is Oda-Sama and Tsukiko-San?" Minako's hands shook slightly, if something bad had happened to them... no she shouldn't think like that. Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. Was a fight about to break out? Or was there going to be a bit more verbal banter first?

For a while now, Erize had been planning this entire concert. She believed in the idea that she could win people's affections with the power of her voice and not solely from her ability. It was something she had to prove, but nobody was willing to listen. One of them was Oda, who caught on the trail starting with Junko and while she had successfully managed to throw him off the sent for a while, she had to keep an eye on him.

That is how she found out about Minako and her connection with Tokiwadai. And while interacting with those from her school was not pleasing it, she found it annoying when people tried to interfere. She wasn't harming anyone by performing this concert she spread the rumour to get people excited, too attract people who are open minded to not only find their way here but to appreciate anything.

"Why I organised this concert?" Erize said who paused for a moment, "To make people listen." she answered before seeming immediately confused. "I don't know this Tsukiko-San? Was she with you at the ramen shop? Though Oda-san is probably running around like a mindless dog." Erize showing disdain for him.

"Anything else? Minako? I have to prepare soon."

[SS] The Ballad of the Oddities - Page 5 Empty Re: [SS] The Ballad of the Oddities

Minako listened to Erize with a muted anguish. How could someone be so... callous about this? It was as if she thought nothing of people, or free will. As if we were all her puppets. Then again, perhaps we are. She can control us. A small voice echoed at the darkest corners of her mind. Mina mentally brushed them away as she tried to focus upon the task at hand.

Yes, Kita had been at the Ramen shop but only briefly. Perhaps Erize didn't notice her when she disappeared. Mina kept that info within her mind as well. She flinched slightly at the venom the red haired girl showed for Oda. He was kind, how could anyone not like that? Erize was preparing to leave, Mina had to try one last thing. If it worked, great. If not, well she wasn't any worse off now than she already was. Right? Fear boiled deep within her stomach, her voice trembling softly.

"Yes, one final thing."
Minako cleared her throat, as she shook her hair loose letting it fall back into it's natural waves. "You have a choice, you don't need to do this." Mina couldn't help it, as her eyes started to well up with unbidden tears.

"Sometimes... Sometimes..." Mina sniffled, as she rubbed the back of her hand across her eyes. "Sometimes, it is hard to get people to hear what you have to say. I am willing to listen to you. You have a choice to make. Do you want to force yourself upon others, making them your... slaves? Is it really getting your point across, or is free will just a game to you? By using your... ability... you aren't making people listen. You're making puppets listen. There is a difference. People have choices, and by denying them that..." Mina couldn't bear it any longer, she turned her head away from Erize, tears continuing to stream down her own cheeks.

"Talk to me, I will listen. Just, please, stop. You don't understand what you are doing."

Erize didn't understand why Minako had seemed upset by what she was doing. She had spread the rumour about this concert and so anyone who chased it willing wanted to come. She gave them the choice, the only thing her powers have done was to basically bring them here. Though she wouldn't admit it, the girl's reaction to what she was doing was surprising. She had no intention of harming anyway, and what was currently happening with that Judgmen--

"Him. Prove it to me. Make him listen." Erize was a tough nut to crack, it wouldn't be easy to expose her scars. Though something had caught her interest, the very least the first crack had become exposed. "Oda-san has been exposed to my music far too many times. Junko and his friends have been keeping him busy, but his state right now is like him being.. a slave." Erize continued knowing she didn't want to control anyone until they were under his whim. What happened to him the very least she hadn't intended. "He's an idiot. Junko can't snap him out of his rage, prove it to me. The point you trying to make and get him to listen. If you cannot, then you need to drop your opposition right now." Erize offered Minako a choice, freedom if you will which decides the future of the concert. Would it go on as planned or would it be cancelled?

"If you do intend to find Oda and snap him out of it. I can show you where he would be right now since Junko has been keeping him away."

Make him listen. Make Oda listen to her? No one listened to her, really. Minako shifted uncomfortably as she continued to listen to Erize. The exposure of the music had made him violent, and dangerous. Yeah, this probably wasn't something Mina could handle alone. No. She needed to think positively. If she gave up now Erize would win, without even giving it a fair shot! She could end Oda's suffering, and this entire show all in one choice. It was a delicate matter, one that could inflict serious consequences if she put one toe out of line.

Minako chewed her lip nervously, as she mulled over her options here. Yes, this was the most logical course of action. To solve an issue with as little violence as necessary. Should that not work, well, there was always a plan B right?

"I'll do it. However, once I free him of whatever mind control he is under... I want to know... what was the purpose of all of this. What drove you to force everyone to listen. What do you really want to say?"
Mina crossed her arms and stared deeply into Erize's eyes. "Also, I require one thing. You say you were watching us, so you must have seen Oda-sama and I exit the thrift store. I need my bag, please."

A decision had been made. For better or worse the wheel of fate was now in motion, towards whatever destiny awaited them.

Erize had no reason to deny her request. It was true she had kept an eye on all those who were assisting Oda with the investigation, and so she knew where her bag had been. Though she honestly didn't expect Minako would accept this challenge, and she thought she would just fall in line. It would seem though that she had underestimated her determination, it was like she had been observing a completely different person that interact with the others and Oda for the first time.

"As you wish." she spoke walking towards one of the lockers in the bag and pulled out a very familiar bag. "I didn't want anyone to lose their things." Erize had said honestly thinking it might be strange to why she had her stuff. It was clear many times; she didn't mean any real harm.

"You'll find Junko and his friends trying to stop Oda near here. He has gotten close, and that is what frightens me. " Erize said revealing her worry about what would happen if he gets here. She was right though as out of this building and only two streets away in an unmarked alleyway, Oda was rampaging around trying to find the person to which the music had called in his head.

Erize had set an unwanted target on her head, considering Oda's past anger issues it has only been made worse by her own music.

So her hunch had been right, their things were there. Minako swallowed the lump in her throat, listening to Erize speak. It was terrifying knowing that with a simple change in vocal inflection, she could be another mindless zombie. The dark haired Tokiwadai girl listened to Erize, taking her bag with trembling hands. Mina knew she couldn't reply to Erize without giving away how afraid she really was, so she nodded mutely. Minako looked around, and noticed a small bathroom off to the left of the current room. Silently she strode towards it closing the door behind her. She felt more secure when the small click of the latch echoed behind her, but it still didn't help her knees from giving out as she slid to the ground against the door.

Unbidden tears streamed down her face, she stuffed the palm of her hand into her mouth. Her teeth pressing hardly against the flesh. Sobs wracked her body, as she tried to calm herself down. Oda. Kita. Tsuru. Not to mention the countless others. They were all in some sort of trance, and this was the deal she had made. To spare them, she had to succeed. If she failed, well more than her own life hung in the balance. That kind of pressure wasn't easy to handle. Mina finally felt her breathing slow, and she pulled herself up, looking at her own reflection in the mirror. She was always pale, but her skin looked almost translucent. The remnants of her makeup were smeared across her face. Red and black painted her face in a shocking contrast.

Minako took off the gloves and jewelry, throwing them onto the floor. She ripped the braids out of her hair and ran her hands through it. Slowly, it went back to it's usual style. Quickly she dressed back into her own clothes. It felt nice. Comfortable. Safe somehow. She washed her face, roughly her nails scratching her face. The pain, it somehow made her realize that she was alive, not doomed. There was still hope. Right? She looked up, her face red from the excess scrubbing. Mina grabbed all of her stuff, and threw it into her bag. Before she exited the room she pinned the origami bluebell flower, from Tsuru, into her hair. She took a deep breath and walked back into the backstage area.
With more confidence than she felt, she squared her shoulders and looked Erize right in the eyes. "Alright, I'm ready. Let's do this."

Depending on where you stand, the perspective of this situation was vastly different. Sure, from an outside perspective her abilities can seem rather scary, for it only took one moment to use her ability to influence the outcome. Though the key word here was 'influence' and not control. Her abilities can be simply described as encouraging targeted emotions. It was other factors, outside methods and suggestions which often directs the emotion into what Erize desired which is why the music required certain factors like broken machines.

Though how that worked was a story for another time, though it had to be clear that Erize hadn't meant any ill-will towards anyone partaking in this concert. She didn't make it easy to attend for the whole reason to make it a choice. She thought it was statistically impossible for someone to be negatively affected by the experience. Though she had learned that wasn't entirely the case and Oda being one of the victims of her inability to control the scope of her powers.

Exciting certain emotions too much could overwhelm there, and that is what happened to Oda Taichi. Having been exposed to music which excited anger, the judgement boy had been lost in a fit of rage. Though the question on Erize mind was what could she do to stop it?

Erize was about to find out as she contacted Junko upon Minako's return. Only to find out how close Oda was to finding the concert, which could be disastrous if that had happened and so with her temporary ally she lead the way to where Oda was on a rampage. It was not far away, and in fact, it was so close by that you could hear the commotion the moment they left the concert. Running around at the back of buildings outside of the public eye was Junko and his friends playing a game of cat and mouse with Oda.

The judgement boy lost in his anger was focused on Junko and using this his friends had been making sure he was never caught. Though that luck was almost running out as Oda corners Junko in an open court between the warehouses with no other exit than behind the angered boy. It was then when Erize and Minako arrived seeing the events unfold.

Both Oda and Junko seem rather beat up which was a clear indication they've been fighting, some of Junko's friends were down on the floor and all the while neither of them had noticed the girls arrival.

"Prove it to me." Erize spoke towards Minako.

Minako felt numb as they walked out of the back stage area and into the alleyways. She could hear signs of a struggle somewhere nearby. That was definitely not a good sign. As they rounded the corner, the terrible sight of the ongoing battle filled their eyes. Multiple unconcious bodies littered the ground, Junko and Oda both looking a little worse for wear. That was when Erize once again spoke. Prove it to me. The words themselves weren't laced with any power. However, it triggered something deep within Mina.
Growing up in a successful family, always being overshadowed by her sisters, being told that she wasn't good enough. Her power was a commoner ability. The laughter, the emotional pain. No she couldn't, nay, she wouldn't fail. Determination filled her soul, as she began to run towards Oda. Her heels slightly clicking on the pavement, creating a mesmerizing metronome tone, she was able to focus on the numbers and appropriate formulas.

In a brief moment, she planted her left leg and pushed off the ground hard. She felt her body lift and propel itself into the air about twenty feet. She fell into her old gymnastics routine, tucking her arms in as she spiraled through the air. Her eyes never leaving the target. With one final flip, she planted her feet firmly back onto the ground, spreading out both arms.

She had placed herself perfectly between Oda and Junko. Probably not the safest approach, but it was necessary to divert his attention immediately. The fastest way to do so, was to divert his attention by getting in the way. By becoming the next target.

"Oda-Sama!" Minako said firmly, her voice full of emotion. "You need to listen to me. Please. I know you're in there. You're stronger than you know, so listen to me. Listen to my voice." Minako couldn't help it, a few tears lingered upon her thick lashes. "You need to come back, take control of yourself. You can do this. You can put an end to all of this. Just, listen to MY voice."

Mina was working on a theory, which could totally be wrong. But if by some means vocal hypnosis laced with rage was able to send him down a path of destruction, wasn't it the same path, only with calm tones, that could bring him back? If not, things were going to get ugly. And a show of her gymnastics wasn't going to be enough. She'd have to use her telekinetics for combat, an idea she wasn't too thrilled about. However, if it was for the greater good, it must be done.

[SS] The Ballad of the Oddities - Page 5 Empty Re: [SS] The Ballad of the Oddities

Post  Oda Taichi Wed Jun 27, 2018 5:09 pm

It was a deafening sound, the only thing he could hear that accompanied him through the mist. He couldn't see anything else or hear anything else. His body moved with a purpose that he didn't choose, his consciousness was impaired, and there was nothing he could do about it. It was the result of the overexposure to the music that charmed many. When certain emotions are overexcited, the subconsciousness takes over with its directive.

And how Erize pulled this off was to input subliminal messages within the music, this, in turn, directed Oda's subconsciousness bringing him to this point as he confronted Junko and the others without being aware.

"Oda-Sama!"

His vision turned as for a moment he could see through the dense mind that was clouding his mind, though he couldn't comprehend what had happened, Minako had stood before him and Junko. Indeed a dangerous place to stand as the Judgement boy raised his right fist to attack.

"You need to listen to me. Please. I know you're in there. You're stronger than you know, so listen to me. Listen to my voice."

He hesitated as Minako's voice rings through his ears.

"You need to come back, take control of yourself. You can do this. You can put an end to all of this. Just, listen to MY voice."

It was that moment when his subconsciousness started to lose its grip as his the right arm begun to shake, the boy who once struggled with his anger issues was experiencing his worse nightmare. This was something he never wanted to experience again, and yet he risked it all to solve the mystery behind the concert. However even as he struggled to take control, it was the moment his head turned to the side that he had seen Erize.

He never met this girl and probably never even held a conversation, though both have been a thorn in each other's side for a while now. Though it was the music that still had a grip on Oda that reignited his rage despite Minako's intervention because he had seen Erize.

It was what the music was driving him towards, and that was to find Erize. So in a moment, the music's last gasp of control sends Oda into a blinding rage to attack the girl at the centre of it all.

[SS] The Ballad of the Oddities - Page 5 Empty Re: [SS] The Ballad of the Oddities

There was a moment, just a brief moment, in which Minako saw Oda's consciousness come back. It was as if his eyes were finally opening, but still glassed over from the fog. All of a sudden a flatness ensnared his eyes once again. No, her theory had worked. But the sirens song was a bit stronger. Mina took a step forward, but it was too late. Oda had whirled around looking for something, or someone. Mina and Junko were momentarily forgotten. Something else, something more important had his attention.

That was when Oda made a bolt for Erize. Of course, she was the object of his delusions! Mina should have figured that having her here would have caused more issues than it solved. To little too late now. Minako had to spring into action, but what? What could she do? Her time was running short, and she had to use her power now! Mina held out her hand, and ran calculations as fast a possible.

She took into account distance, and the velocity of which she wanted things to happen. She also gave rough estimates of weight and height as well.

If all went as planned, then Oda would charge at Erize, but unfortunately for him she would be hovering in the air, out of his reach.

If things didn't go as planned, well, either Erize would get hit, or Oda would be tossed slightly into the air. Minako hoped that she had made the right calculations.

[SS] The Ballad of the Oddities - Page 5 Empty Re: [SS] The Ballad of the Oddities

Post  Oda Taichi Mon Jul 02, 2018 1:04 am

For someone in the blind rage, this was probably the effective method to deal with that person. Considering Oda the bull and Erize the red cape. Pulling her out of his way was not only smart, but it was also just simple.

Though it was those methods that often lead to the best results.

Oda Taichi was like a raging bull when he charged, though that would play against him when Erize hovered into the sky. The way to break out of the icy grip of Erize's song was also simple.

He had fallen to the ground after basing into the fence from the charge. Usually, Oda would be able to react, though in this situation his mind wasn't up to the task as he crashed into the ground. Though he wouldn't move for a few moments, he would suddenly roll over holding his right arm. It was bleeding; there was a massive cut down it, and it looked painful.

"What the bloody hel-- the hell.." Taichi shouted in pain as he tried to collect his thoughts.

Meanwhile, Erize watched from above taken back from the experience, she did look frightened by the shock when Oda had charged for her originally.

"Let me down! Please..." Erize spoke out upon seeing the result.
