The Magic-Science Treaty

Post  Mugino Shizuri on Tue Mar 10, 2015 1:14 pm

The world is sperated into two sides: Magic and Science.

Currently both somehow manage coexist peacefully, all thanks to a certain treaty. This treaty had been set up a long time ago in order to prevent chaos from spreading and a war from being sparked.
Overall this treaty is to be respected by all members of both sides, be they Magicians, Espers, scientists or even the normal people, there are no exceptions.
However it is important to note that only those who know both about the existence of both sides of the world are supposed to know about the treaty.

As the treaty was never defined properly in the series we will try to give a small outline on important points that you need to pay attention to when creating or playing a character in the RP. Those are as follows:

1. Both sides are not to interfere with the other’s business. This means that neither inhabitants of Academy City nor Magicians should ever attempt to interfere with the other side’s business or to even attack each other. However there is room for exceptions if certain conditions are met.

2. Members of both sides aren’t allowed to use the other’s techniques. One tainted in the colours of science is not allowed to ever make use of Magic, while those on the side of Magic are not allowed to rely on the Science Side’s technology or knowledge.

2a. Magicians are only allowed to use the basics of basic technology, meaning they are only allowed to use items that are part of normal everyday life. Thus they are allowed to use mobile phones (not smart phones), paper copiers, refrigerators, TVs etc. However they are still not allowed to make use of more advanced items and techniques like computer programs, laser cutters, modern weaponry, hacking or any other part of top modern technology.

3. The higher ups of both sides are to ensure that those on their respective sides who break the treaty are punished properly.

4. There is some room for exceptions to be allowed at special occasions. These however are quite rare to begin with.
