[SS] Intensify- Episode 2 OOC

‘Intensify’

An outbreak of violent attacks committed by Espers has been linked to a new drug known as ‘Intensify’. The substance causes a temporary boost in the user’s ability, the upper limit of which is still unknown. Continuous usage of ‘Intensify’ leads to cerebral haemorrhaging and psychotic behaviour which is believed to account for the recent incidents. These side effects, as well as the power gain only increase with time, requiring another dose to control. Repeated use of one’s powers while under the influence of ‘Intensify’ leads to death in most cases as the Esper’s ability rages beyond their control, often consuming them and those in the immediate vicinity.

So far no source has been found for the drug, though it continues to circulate among the disenfranchised Level 0s.

Can you put a stop to this dangerous addiction?

Episode 1:

A mysterious fatal explosion is linked to out of control Esper abilities. Judgement recruit Yamato Trystan teamed up with the Level 5 Railgun, Misaka Mikoto and the ever unfortunate Kamijou Touko to uncover the route of the incident. What they found was a strange substance circulating the underbelly of Academy City, promising power to rival a Level 5.

A confrontation with the a Skill Out gang proves almost more than the trio can handle as their leader, Shirogane Naoto reveals the abilities of 'Intensify', overpowering even the renowned Electromaster in combat.

Meanwhile Mikoto's underclassman, Kashiwagi Mai becomes involved with the Skill Out and Level 0 Miura Karl and the two are caught up in the battle, leading to tensions between Mai and her idol. To defend Karl, Mai uses Intensify but the drug's effects are more than she anticipated, causing her to lash out with her new powers. Only the combined efforts of Trystan, Mikoto and Naoto ar enough to stop her rampage. Touko's confrontation with Karl however ends in tragedy as the boy slips into a coma.

Mai recovers in hospital as the legendary healer, Heaven Canceller reveals that whatever abilities Mai displayed, they were unrelated to an Esper's'.

Elsewhere a mysterious figure speaks with Skill Out gang leader Kurama Kenji, promising that their plans for the city remain unchanged.

Huh... I didn't declare I'd join. I just thought it would make for a good addition to not always put Natsumi on the spotlight. They're SNPCs anyway. If it's mostly for new members then I'll back off.

Everyone's free to join. The more the better, just as long as you can think of a decent reason for your character to get involved.

Hi everyone. I'm not officially approved yet, but things are looking good. I've basically been eying this thread since I made my character.

That being said, if you're well under way and have enough people, i don't mind sitting it out.

On the other hand, if you don't mind me joining, I'd enjoy being a part of it.

As a special note to Guy:
My character's back story heavily involves dubious Level Upping projects. That doesn't mean that every dubious Level Upper incident has to be involved with my character's group, but it might be an interesting concept to explore.

I understand you probably have a bunch of stuff planned, but If you want to work my character and the group he works for into your plans, then just send me a PM.

I'll understand if you already have a lot on your plate, though.

I... kinda made it clear my OC went into the other room. I kinda need someone to NPC Konori Mii for a minute to tell her new recruit what to do.

Ausama, if you want to get involved there's one slot left before I close off the rumour to new participants. Do you have any ideas for your character joining in with the rest of the group?

I was hoping that my character would be sorted out before I had to reply, but I figure I shouldn't hold things up.

I'd like to take that slot, but until I actually have a character to play, feel free to let someone else in.

If Abel does get in, I only had ideas of him joining the thread as a possible antagonist of some kind. Though, I don't mind joining the group. I'm open to any ideas, and am willing to discuss the details through pm if you wish.

just wondering, but is the trystan+kyou scouting/cleaning pair supposed to end up stumbling onto the brawl? as a way for judgement to get an inkling of something still going on? or is this supposed to be purely about cleaning, and the two of us can troll around on the streets somewhere until some proper info is brought in lol

I think it would make more sense for them to stumble into it as part of their patrol. Though since the heist is taking place at night (logically) then perhaps as they're heading back to the office to end their shift?

Well, I'd like to jump in, too. To at least throw my hat in the ring. I'll just keep things vague and mysterious for now.

I still need to know whether or not NEW PATH will be involved with Intensify, and to what degree. Frankly, I could go either way. We could just be keeping tabs on a rival project. On the other hand, Abel could be there to record results of a test run in the field. Either, way he'd probably be doing a lot of the same things.

Please let me know if I made any mistakes.

Given that I've already basically written the plot for this episode I think adding in another faction right now would be problematic.

So have you decide what your character is going to do in this story? Is he going to be involved in the main group? It might be pretty difficult to write him in otherwise, given the nature of 'rumour' stories.

Well, if that's the case, then I will probably go along with my plan b.

He is acting as a solo-field agent, sent in by his group. As far as his group knows, the Intensify rumors are still just that, rumors. However, those rumors are enough to warrant further investigation. The group has sent Silver Lining in with the goal of finding out as much as he can about the situation, and if Intensify does exists, he is to steal a sample of it and sabotaging the experiment.

Of course, this won't be so easy to do alone. So he'll probably either need to use anyone else involved, or directly approach them as potential allies. Like always, I'll play it by ear. I'll see what situations we find our characters in, and have him move accordingly. Right now, it doesn't seem like it'd be too advantageous to jump in directly, but things might change.

Abel, Yosuke's not there anymore. He hid once he heard Abel/Kyou approach, though he's still in the room.

Maybe my brain's broken, but I'm failing to understand exactly what's going on in the previous two posts in the Intensify topic. Could you please explain them to me?
