::Full Name:: Yamato Trystan
::Other Alias:: Asura
::Age:: 21
::Gender:: Male
::Occupation:: Occasional masked vigilante, Student
::School:: A Certain High School
::Faction:: Judgement (office 177), ties to the Nine Dragons due to parents/Master
::Appearance::
Trystan is squarely built from the many continuous years of martial arts training he has received from his parents. However, despite his relatively clunky dimensions, he has a light spring to his step. Coupled with his head of messy hair and the slight, almost unnoticeable smile on his face at all times, he looks like an easily approachable person overall. While conspicuously and flashily designed, Trystan prefers to wear his hooded gi in his down-time, as a tribute to both the culture and martial heritage he has left behind him. The belt on his waist serves to signify him as the rightful successor to the Pure Mist Reishi Style, and an open challenge to all who wish to seize this seat from him. Otherwise, as he is a student, Trystan will dress in the standard student uniform that is mandated at A Certain High School.
::Height:: 170 cm
::Weight:: 85 kgs
::Distinguishing Features::
- Slight smile at all times unless experiencing a counter emotion, such as anger or serious contemplation.
- Generic white headband. Simply a remnant of his days as a martial student.
[ Q u i r k s ]
~Laughing in the face of the world’s troubles, he proudly moves onwards…~
- Spoiler:
- A rather quiet and polite person, Trystan exudes the silent strength of one who knows his own limits, but is sure of his own abilities. As such, he is slow to anger, and quick to lend an often decisive helping hand to those who may need it. However, when he does anger, woe is he who incited such wrath; Trystan will usually not stop until either he or the object of his anger is annihilated beyond recovery. During times like these, his hansha charge to the extent that they lose their partial transparency and takes on a glowing hues that mirror his current emotion.
He can be quite the melodramatic person, and is always appalled by and, in more severe cases, disgusted with violence towards women, scorn of effort and hard work, wrongful abuse of power, and betrayal of trust. Because of these tendencies, there are times in which his judgment becomes clouded, interfering with his ability to carry out a mission due to conflicting interests. However, for the most part, due to the amount of mental fortitude he has achieved from his many years of martial arts training, he is able to keep these personal emotions in check sufficiently.
The core of this mental fortitude lies within the teachings of the Martial School of the Pure Mist. Upon induction, and all the way through graduation, students are made to recite the mantra of the school…
There is a thing known as Justice;
有一種東西叫正義;
To grasp and protect great Justice, one must possess great Kung Fu!
要高強正義, 就要有高強功夫!
有一種東西叫正義;
To grasp and protect great Justice, one must possess great Kung Fu!
要高強正義, 就要有高強功夫!
- Spoiler:
- An inherently unclear and paradoxical concept, this philosophy intentionally allows their students to follow their own sense of great Justice. Stripped down to its basics, the philosophy states that for better or for worse, only the strong are able to enforce Justice. Thus, one trains in order to allow Justice the freedom to spread throughout the world. This may seem like a form of absolute Darwinism, but this is not the case. Like the free expression within the art itself, all practitioners eventually make their way back out into the world, most of whom never walk the path of the sword again. However, life is a never-ending battle; shore up one’s own defenses with hard work and the torrents will never sweep one away. The sense of Justice is never the same with two different people, nor can the entirety ever forced upon others – it is a way of life. To be able to truly grasp Justice, both physically and spiritually, is to grasp one’s own life within one’s own hands; to be in control of one’s own life is the greatest form of empowerment – the greatest form that Justice could ever take.
As a side note, despite his nickname, due to his innately friendly personality, he is very approachable, even by complete strangers and/or enemies who do not know of his identity.
::Likes:: Justice, good food, martial arts, chivalric spirit
::Dislikes:: Injustice, bad food, violence towards women, scorn of effort, abuse of trust
::Strengths:: A cool-headed fighter and a calm observer, Trystan makes for a formidable opponent in combat. His straightforward and truthful nature also makes it easy for strangers to trust him.
::Weaknesses:: His clear-cut likes, dislikes, and demeanor makes it supremely easy for an opponent to read his intentions, as well as to find simple countermeasures to mess with his mind. As such, Trystan is exceedingly weak against psychological battles. Also, his personal attitude towards women makes it so that he could almost never fight at his full potential against a female opponent. With these factors combined, femme fatales are probably his worst matchups.

- Spoiler:
- A Certain Boy was born to Nine Dragon operatives Xiao Jin Yi and his wife, Lai Xiu Min on A Certain Day 21 Years Ago. The two were overjoyed at his birth, as they had already been trying for several years without success. With the blessings of their superiors, the two washed their hands of the business with the Nine Dragon, wishing to raise their child away from the violent and tumultuous lifestyle that the group represented. Moving to a remote, mountainous region, the family raised the boy in this sort of solitude.
Growing up, the Child was energetic, and loved to explore the area around. However, the paths were steep and the footing treacherous, and the Child weak of body, so the Child was often unable to travel far from his house before meeting a path he could not overcome. Regardless, more than once the Child almost fell to his own demise, only to be rescued by the timely appearance of his parents. Soon realizing that the Child will probably soon grow to the point where he would be able to wander off further in spite of his poor health, his parents decided to pass on some basic martial knowledge and training to the Child. This was a dual-fold endeavor; firstly to ensure his safety, and secondly to attempt to channel some of his abundant energy to an activity which would keep him closer to home.
Despite the harsh methods employed by his parents, the Child quickly realized that he loved practicing, and despite his weak physical body, soon found himself engaging only in said practice at all times. Soon enough, he had mastered all the forms and had also overcome his poor physical condition. With nothing left to teach him on this subject and unwilling to teach actual violence to their Child, his excess and, by now, much-reinforced energy supplies had no outlet to release on. As such, his parents moved on to teach him of the meditative practice and Ch’i cultivation methods of the Reishi practitioners, hoping that this time, the mental aspect would teach the child the self-control necessary to not go jumping off dangerously high cliffs for the sake of a quick thrill. However, as they did not want the Child to know of the origin of such skills, they only told him that it was a method of keeping healthy.
However, this naiive peace was not to last. On a particularly stormy night, the door of the Young Boy and his parents’ small hut was blown apart, the pieces of the wooden door flying every which way. The Boy woke to the sound, and instantly leapt up in surprise. Or at least, he tried to. Before he could move, a large hand had roughly poked his body at various points. Almost all of his considerable strength left his body immediately. His heartbeat suddenly spiked as an unexplainable uneasiness came over him. Struggle as he might, he simply could not move as the being who entered the household stalked off into the other room. He tried opening his mouth to shout out to his parents, but neither his voice nor his mouth was able to move. In desperation, the Boy started to circulate the Ch’i within his body, and was almost immediately able to recover his movement. Rolling out of bed, he stumbled towards his parents’ room, all the while calling their names. As he pushed open the door, expecting the worst, an unexpected scene filled his eyes.
It was the sight of his parents embracing a large man, expressions of joy on each of their faces.
As the Boy looked on in confusion, so too did the large man turn around and return the confused look with one of his own. Turning to the Boy’s parents, the large man then broke out in a loud guffaw, while heartily patting the Boy’s father on the back.
“You son-of-a-bitch! What a fine lad you’ve trained yourself!”
From that day forward, the Boy obtained not only the misleadingly melodramatic nature that would sometimes cause him problems, but also a teacher who would inform him of the ways of the world. Insisting on staying until he had sculpted a fine disciple out of the Boy, the Boy’s parents finally relented to the enthusiasm of their Martial Uncle and son, and allowed the Boy to start learning actual combat techniques from him. After several years, not only had the Boy grown into a fine Young Adolescent, he had quickly mastered both the martial and spiritual aspect of the Pure Mist Reishi Style. The Adolescent’s Master could only rationalize this as the coupling of immense natural room for growth, enthusiasm, and the early construction of a solid martial art foundation.
Because of this degree of mastery, the Master and the Adolescent would spar regularly, the elder of the two doing so to maintain his skill and the younger to refine and polish his. With the onset of his age and the rapid intake of information by the child’s still developing brain, the two were able to spar on a more or less even ground, with the child’s young enthusiastic agility and energy proving to be quite the contender for the man’s mountain of practical experience. With one overlooked instep, the Adolescent finally broke through the man’s defenses, and was on the verge of landing a hit when the man unwittingly used his Spirit Art, an invisible extension launching itself from out of his fist and landing a counter to the blow onto the child. At that moment, despite his fading consciousness, the only thought within the child’s mind was the counter to the man’s counter. It was perhaps due to the burning desire to throw that punch that the child’s thus far slumbering potential erupted, his body instantly reinforcing itself with Ch’i, and causing a massive rebound in the force, sending the Spirit Art right back at the man. In that split second, the man could only feel surprise at seeing the scene unfold in front of him, before eating the child’s timely counter head on. The two flew to the opposite ends of the area, each losing consciousness.
From that moment on, the man trained the Adolescent not to simply polish a bright gem, but to create a masterpiece with which to awe the world. He taught the Adolescent not only all the martial arts he knew, from the offensive grappling, joint manipulation, and striking to the healing arts of herbal medicine, massage, and acupuncture, but also tried to teach the control, manipulation, and duplication of the store of Ch’i the Adolescent had stored up. With the mental fortitude acquired as a child, the refinement of the Reishi’s technique was not hard. When the Adolescent turned twenty, the Master proclaimed that the Adolescent had already grasped all the concepts that he knew, and that there was nothing more for him to teach.
True to his promise, the Master soon left the Young Man and his parents. However, before he left, the Master suggested to the parents that they might send this Young Man off into the world, towards Academy City. It was rumored to be the most advanced city in the world, and as such, would be the best place to hone the Young Man’s intellectual prowess. The reason he gave was that, after all, if the parents were serious about him not becoming one embroiled in violence, then the only remaining course of action was to make sure that he stays on the path of the intellectual – what better way to do that than by educating him with the best of the best?
After finally acquiescing, the Master decided to seal the Young Man’s ability to use Ch’i with a technique only another Reishi could undo. This served a double purpose of not only forcing the Young Man to learn to deal with situations without overly-relying on his strengths, it would also serve as a failsafe to guarantee that he would fit in better with his surroundings. Furthermore, it provided a measure for the Young Man to regain his powers if the situation ever called for it by finding another Reishi to undo the seal for him. Thus, after having memorized the method to undo the seal, with only the pure thought of further improving and educating himself, the Young Man left the mountainous region, and, escorted by friends of his Master within the Nine Dragons, who, using their connections, arrived in Japan with little trouble, before finally arriving at Academy City. As these friends left, the last one turned to the Young Man and gave him a package containing the hooded gi that he now wears, as well as a single, short, handwritten letter from his Master.
“Do not scorn hard work; Do not abuse your gift; Do not mistreat women; Never betray trust, for there is no other truth.”
However, upon reaching Academy City, the Young Man was immediately whisked away to a private interrogation room. In hindsight, it was natural for the officials to be suspicious, despite the absolute lack of information they had been able to gather about the Young Man; the Nine Dragons, who were an infamous group of what amounted to mercenaries and assassins, were escorting this Young Man after all. However, based on the fact that they had insufficient materials to slap a charge other than “being unclean due to his long journey” on the Young Man the officials soon released him, along with a new name, as, now that he thought about it, his parents never really called him by any specific name either.
With that, the officials gave him the common surname Yamato, as well as the given name of Trystan, as the head officer at the site was an avid King Arthur fan. After some emergency catching up on all basic subjects, Trystan officially entered Academy City’s Power Curriculum one year later, at the age of 21, starting as A Certain High School freshman.

::Battou Kanon::
Trystan’s Personal Reality is Battou Kanon, a power which is able to manifest Trystan’s internal limb motion into reality. Functionally, it is a form of telekinesis, with up to six extra generic limbs, which he refers to as Hansha, or reflection, that Trystan can control at will. His fine control over the limbs are so exact that he could thread a needle using only these limbs. These limbs can be used to perform a variety of both power and fine-control tasks, such as lifting heavy objects or lifting and using a pencil to write from a distance respectively, within a 10 meter range.
Trystan named these limbs Hansha because they were an instantaneous reflection of where he imagined his limbs to be and what they were doing within a certain range. The amount of power generated is proportional to the distance between Trystan and said point of reference as well as the amount of concentration Trystan puts into the task at hand; the further away and less focus on the task at hand, the less power and/or destructive force can be applied. However, since each extra motion of the Hansha is felt in Trystan's mind as an actual movement, this ability is very demanding on physical and mental stamina. On the reverse, when Trystan does not activate this ability, his apparent stamina is boosted, as he no longer has to utilize additional stamina to power the Hansha.
Currently, the maximum power output per limb is about the same as Trystan’s actual physical power output, while he can only fully activate this power for about a minute before needing to rest to recover some stamina (3-6 posts active continuously, 1 post rest). These limbs can also be wrapped around his limbs or converged together as a small shield in order to offer enhanced protection/reinforcement. At the current maximum focus and power Trystan can generate, he is able to stop a few small-caliber pistol rounds in their tracks; however, trying to stop a continuous spray of projectiles or projectiles from high power firearms or weapons is still completely unreasonable.
Normally, Hansha are more or less transparent, marked only by a shimmer. However, these limbs can take on various hues depending on Trystan’s current state of mind and emotion, appearing as ghostly, detached appendages hovering around his body, which in turn earned him his nickname, a name he shares with the multi-armed gods of wrath and battle, the Asura.

- ::Martial Arts – Pure Mist Reishi Style::
Trained from the very start with this style of martial art, Trystan is a veritable master at physical hand-to-hand combat, including grappling, joint manipulation, striking, traditional weapon usage, andCh’i manipulation and gathering.While he knows no actual traditional offensive Spirit Arts, such as those which expel specific energies, he is able to manipulate the Ch’i within himself to the point that he is able to strengthen his body and enhance his mental and physical attributes a great deal, allowing him a body as tough as steel and limbs with enough force to easily pulverize boulders from within with a low-power jab. He is also adept at inflicting various advantageous or detrimental effects with Ch’i enhanced pressure point tapping, depending on the situation.Tapping technique which does not rely on Ch’i is possible as well, but is limited to targeting physical nerve bundles within the opponent, as opposed to the Ch’i meridians within them.
Taps work by forcibly injecting the gathered Ch’i within the user’s body into another to affect their physical bodies; as Ch’i uses different circuitry from both AIM fields and mana, performing this action on either an Esper or a Mage is not inherently toxic. Likewise, channeling Ch’i into an object will strengthen and reinforce , or perhaps destroy said object if overloaded, but will never be the cause said object becoming an Idol or a magical artifact.
As a side note, because his Master trained him in herbal medicine, massage, and acupuncture as well as part of per the traditionally holistic aspect of martial arts, Trystan is also capable of first aid and after-care. - ::Sakki/Ch’i Sense::
Due to the constant martial training, as well as living in wilderness, Trystan has evolved the ability to sense the emotions and Ch’i within other people. While this sense can not tell other emotions properly, the emotions this sense is particularly attuned to is that of ill will and bloodlust, allowing Trystan to accurately sense when another individual may be about to engage in violent behavior with another. By concentrating and using this sense, Trystan is able to locate general directions where there are other people within a short range as well as giving a rough estimate of numbers. Likewise, by honing this sense, Trystan is also able to direct his bloodlust at others in an attempt to apply an uncomfortable and unfamiliar pressure onto his opponents.By releasing a short blast of Ch’i, Trystan is able to use the ‘rebound’ as a sort of echolocation, able to identify the whereabouts of most living things within a 100 meter range. - ::Superior Motor Control::
Since usage of Battou Kanon requires extremely clear mental imagery of physical movements, Trystan's motor control has evolved to the point that it is almost impossible to make him feel off balanced, including normally slightly disorienting attacks or low-power drugs. When he is not using Battou Kanon at all, Trystan is able to perfectly perform nearly any motion he has in his mind with little to no practice. This is because the lessened burden on the areas of his brain concerning motion control have suddenly been freed to focus only on the original 4 limbs, instead of the 10 limbs if Battou Kanon were activated to its full potential. - ::Survival::
From living in a remote region since he was a child, Trystan has a wide repertoire of survival skills, able to make the most out of whatever he has on hand. He is also capable of making surprisingly palatable meals from the most unpalatable of ingredients. Just don’t ask how.

test post
OOC Note: my friend, who hasn't registered or made a profile yet, will be making a character who will probably have some references to either the happenings of this test post and/or my profile. just a heads up~
The Young Man walked behind the various members of the Nine Dragons that he had met up with, as per the instructions of his Martial Master. Their five-man group was an interesting assortment of people; from his perspective, as one who had never really left the place he called home for twenty years, each and every single one already held more experience than he could have gathered in a lifetime. As such, whenever he could, he was asking his escorts to tell him more of their stories. Most were willing to oblige, though some others were understandably not as open; they were, in the end, professionals for hire, after all. However, Ling Xiong Jie, the heavily-bearded leader of the group and a close confidant of his Master, had been so taken by Trystan's enthusiasm that the lulls of silence never lasted for too long.
However, within this escort was one who stood out. It was the lone girl in this group of men that had joined them only as they had neared Academy City. What were her circumstances? Why was she here? From what he understood of Ling's stories, she shouldn't even be inside Academy City unless there on "business". He was especially curious because here was a lass his own age, accompanying these men who were essentially hired assassins. Granted, this was probably the least dangerous mission that these men had undertaken in awhile; it was to simply escort him to Japan. He was neither a criminal nor a wanted man - what could possibly go wrong? Furthermore, the charge was the disciple of one of their close friends; how could they say no?
Despite these questions within him, the girl had remained cold during his advances, replying with only what was necessary, and nothing more. When he could get no more responses out of her, the men around only whistled and laughed, before patting the Young Man on his shoulders. Then they would say something about how he would have better luck next time. While he had heard his Master telling him the same everytime after spars during which he was defeated quickly, for some reason, the vibe he was getting from the way the men were saying this to him now seemed to imply a different sort of meaning to luck altogether. Was it really up the flip of a coin to see if the girl would talk to him on a whim?
Actually, now that he thought about it, why was he so interested in the girl to begin with? Aside from her age, what made her so different from these men? While, truthfully, he had been very...pleasantly surprised at the difference between her physical form and his mother's, that couldn't be the cause of this entire uncharacteristically tumultuous train of thought, could it? Well, in any case, there probably wouldn't be many more chances for him to have his thoughts on this particuar girl; they were already near Academy City, and would probably never see each other again. As his thoughts meandered, the group suddenly came to a stop, falling silent as their eyes darted around, hands signalling wildly to each other. Ling had quickly ordered the group to fall into a circular formation, with the Young Man and the girl towards the center. Taking a small breath, the Young Man focused on their surrounding, trying to take a stab at their situation.
One...Two...Five...around Thirty...
Twenty-five people suddenly appearing around them within a hundred meter radius...This was clearly one of those ambushes that his Master and Ling had told him of. The Young Man looked to Ling for instructions, but was only met with a quick, steely glance. The intentions behind the look was clear; he'd have to pull his own weight this time. Putting down his travelling knapsack, the Young Man settled into an easy stance while continuing to steady his breath, monitoring the approaching individual's positions. As they neared, the overwhelming combined ill-intent and bloodlust that he couldn't feel from further away was now blatantly clear. A familiar chill went down his back, but conversely his stance suddenly felt tighter, and more tense. The world seemed to be collapsing down upon him, and he couldn't really see straight. His breaths felt more ragged, even without him having taken action at all. And suddenly, the Young Man realized - this was the pressure that accompanied actual combat. This was what all the training was for. This was situation was what he was supposed to bring into the light of Justice. With this thought in mind, the Young Man steadied himself for the encounter. Almost as if he had been waiting for this moment, Ling yelled out in his brusque voice towards the surrounding foilage.
"Come out you cowards! I know you're-"
Before he could finish, Ling made a motion with his hands. Almost as soon as they disappeared, several slightly muffled cries of pain rang out from the foilage. Immediately after, the darkness lit up in brilliant flashes and resounded with the heavy staccato of rapid-fire assault rifles. Gritting his teeth, the Young Man threw himself into the foliage, joining the fray himself. As he turned towards his nearest assailant, the individual jumped out from behind the bushes, and with a yell, started firing. Immediately dashing a zig-zag towards the assailant, the Young Man dodged the wild spray while closing the distance, then threw a heavy palm into the ribs. Startled at the speed with which the Young Man had closed the distance, the assailant had hesitated while turning towards the Young Man; it was then that the palm strike landed. The assailant immediately doubled over in pain as the affected ribs jutted inward into and piercing organs. The force of the strike dislodged the helmet the assailant was wearing, revealing a curtain of long hair. Through the adrenaline, the smell of perfume wafted up into his nose. Was this assailant a woman too?
Deciding that the groaning mess on the ground was probably incapacitated, he dashed off towards another one about to attack one of the escorts from behind. Throwing a kick to the back of the assailant's knee, the Young Man simultaneously grabbed the off-balance assailant by the back of his vest and pulled him backwards into a hard chop to the base of his neck. As the Young Man's recovered from this attack, another assailant rushed up to him with a chopping motion of a giant cleaver, the attack aimed to cut clean through the Young Man's torso. Dodging to the side, the Young Man barely avoided the cleaver's edge, a few strands of hair still floating towards the ground where he had been standing a few moments earlier.
Before the assailant had enough time to recover off the large attack, the Young man had closed the distance again. With a flurry of strikes, the assailant was first robbed of his senses of sight, then his hearing, and then finally his smell, leaving his face a broken and bloodied mess as he writhed on the ground screaming in pain. Giving a spirited kiai, the Young Man grabbed a nearby assailant by his head, then swept his feet out from under him, before slamming him face-first into the ground. Straddling the assailant's back, the Young Man threw a flurry of heavy punches towards the back of the assailant's head, until he was still, with the back of his head flat and level with the ground surrounding it.
Breathing heavily, the Young Man looked at the scene of carnage in front of him. He had survived his first combat. But had Justice actually prevailed? Just what exactly were both sides fighting for? The strength left his limbs as he lowered his hands, ready to simply relax after the fight. However, almost as soon as he did this, he felt someone ram into him from his side, tackling him to the ground.
"You IDIOT!"
Almost as soon as he heard the girl yell about his incompetance, the Young Man heard the sound of a pistol firing, before the origination of shot cried out in pain from being simultaneously eviscerated from multiple sides. It was at this moment that the Young Man understood that while his physical techniques were honed, his spiritual and mental prowess still had much room for improvement, and such improvement could only be gotten from experiences in a volatile environment such as this one. However, even as he understood this, after looking at the still-twitching and disembowled he could only ponder in disgust if this was truly what his fists were meant to achieve.
For what reason did he train these hands?
He could only ponder these questions by himself as the group trudged the final distance towards Academy City in silence.

Re: [Reishi] Yamato Trystan
Welcome! I'll jump right into things as you seem quit eager.
There are a couple of problems with your profile.
Firstly, as stated in the FAQ, Reishi are currently being restricted to antagonist NPCs. The Nine Dragons as an organisation and Reishi as a concept haven't been properly introduced yet. Once they have they will be open for players to take on as characters.
Secondly, the profile's formatting. We prefer it if people stick to the plain profile format to ensure consistency.
As far as the profile itself goes there are a few inconsistencies. He seems to swing back and forth between being an Esper (Someone who's been given powers by Academy City's Power Curriculum) and a Reishi (Someone trained in Spirit Arts by the Nine Dragons.) For instance you state in the title that he's an [Esper] and the 'manifestation of his AIM' (A trait exclusive to Espers) but the rest of the profile mentions him being trained as a Reishi.
There's also the matter of his age. At 21 he wouldn't be in high school.
His ability seems fine. However his martial arts techniques are a little more troublesome. Enhanced Strength, speed & mental attributes is all part of the package for most Reishi. I'll need more info on his 'tapping' ability before I can make a decision on that.
The problem is in the use of 'Shunpo'. As an ability it's powerful enough that it would need to be a main power. It's also considered a high level technique for certain styles, though if you have any questions about that sort of thing it'd be best to PM Guy as he's the expert on Reishi etc.
Sorry to disappoint. I'd recommend PMing either myself or Guy to discuss how to change things so he can be accepted.
