SS Idea: Putting an End to Wanderlust; Now Recruiting Participants
Once more, Academy City is being targeted by a magic cabal. Those Who Seek the Truth is a cabal with hundreds of members and a history spanning over a century, but even in the magic side, their name is known only by a select few, and their true strength, virtually none.
This is no coincidence. Those Who Seek the Truth, a cult-like cabal whose collective goal is the simple, but never ending desire to acquire yet more knowledge and wisdom, saw any interaction with the outside world as a possible threat to the continuation of their quest, and became completely self-contained.
They focused every bit of power, every last one of their resources, solely into the completion of a 27 year long ritual to tap into Mímisbrunnr, the well in Norse mythology said to grant great wisdom to those who drink its waters, and answer a single question. They have completed this ritual several times.
For the ritual immediately before the last, completed several years after Academy City's founding, they asked a simple question. "What action will grant us the greatest windfall of knowledge?" The answer they received was to "Conquer the bastion of logic and take its fruits for your own." What this referred to was obvious.
And 9 years before the present day, they completed that ritual once more, and asked "What must we do to take Academy City?" Once more, they received their answer. "Call forth Ragnarök, and bear witness to the burning of Yggdrasill. Then, when the flames have died down, claim your rightful places as Lif and Lifthrasir."
They had a goal, and a means to achieve it. From that point, they focused their efforts entirely on the ritual to call Ragnarök, the Twilight of the Gods that would end the world upon Academy City, so that they could stake their claim upon the new world that would rise from the ashes of the old.
Those Who Seek the Truth have finished their preparations. Cultists are streaming into the city under the guises that they wear in everyday life, as businessman, entrepreneurs, and researchers.
Soon, Fimbulvetr shall fall upon Academy City, and its wyrd shall be sealed.
Confirmed Participants:
Jack Nightingale
Leivinia Birdway
Ascanius Benedict
Tomokota Renavin
Kuro Akarui

Sounds like a cool SS! Ascanius would definitely be interested in joining, albeit reluctantly. He doesn't have much love for Academy City, but he has even less love for seeing it destroyed and all his efforts at espionage wasted. If there's room for a battle monk, he'd be willing to assist.

Tomokota Renavin at your service. Academy city's destruction is a big negative on his part, considering he is indebted to them from giving him Adalia again, but not only that but the daily medication they supply would be lost and Adalia would die. But also..."Oho~ Outnumbered and low odds of success...how interesting! I've been itching for a fight like this! Allow me to go all out!". Minor reason...probably.

Thank you very much~

Funny how we all rise to protect the home that isn't really ours. Kuro has no real attachment to the city itself, but'd be damned if he sat back and allowed a major catastrophe to bring destruction on all the innocents in the city. Sign me up for the magician defense patrol.

You can count me in if it won't affect the entrance exam thread participation for Nanami. Obviously she doesn't like the idea of killing millions of people for the sake of knowledge. It's too immoral. She also doesn't mind academy city and actually has a slight interest in all its technology compared to the modern world outside it's walls. And since her comrade, Kuro, is involved or will be involved, she'd worry.

Woah!
I got both Amakusa members? With that, every magician in Academy City except Index and Sasha are participating! What a turnout.
Since we have enough people, I'll contact you all about how we're going to introduce your character soon.

Okay, I have some bad news, and some great news. The bad news is that after some deliberation, Kat ended up dropping out of the thread.
And as for the great news... The thread will finally begin!
C'mon, everyone, gimme some applause! The long wait is finally over!
