[SS] Intensify OOC Thread (Open)

‘Intensify’

An outbreak of violent attacks committed by Espers has been linked to a new drug known as ‘Intensify’. The substance causes a temporary boost in the user’s ability, the upper limit of which is still unknown. Continuous usage of ‘Intensify’ leads to cerebral haemorrhaging and psychotic behaviour which is believed to account for the recent incidents. These side effects, as well as the power gain only increase with time, requiring another dose to control. Repeated use of one’s powers while under the influence of ‘Intensify’ leads to death in most cases as the Esper’s ability rages beyond their control, often consuming them and those in the immediate vicinity.

So far no source has been found for the drug, though it continues to circulate among the disenfranchised Level 0s.

Can you put a stop to this dangerous addiction?

Hmm... I'm just thinking... Where should I place Mikoto as a starting point? Everyone seems to be gathered around the incident atm. Maybe Mikoto should be somewhere else, getting a hint of the existence of Intensify from another source? Let's see... Lemme know if you have ideas!

Btw, how do npc's work? Can anyone control npcs or only one person per npc? Do ppl usually introduce non-canon npc's before posting?

Sure. Now you're accepted you're more than welcome to join in. We're hoping to stimulate a bit more activity now there are more members.

NPCs can be controlled by anyone, though you can reserve them just for yourself by making a note in their profile. And yeah, we typically introduce non canon characters so people can get familiar with them before interacting.

As for how to introduce her, perhaps she could come across someone using it? Or perhaps she overhears some of her classmates discussing it? Just a couple of rough ideas.

Thanks! Similar to your "perhaps she could come across someone using it?" idea, I was thinking to introduce an npc level 0 delinquent who resorts to using Intensify to get even with higher levelled espers, feeling bitter towards them.

I'll write up a scene soon to set this up. Let's see how it goes- I can always fix it if it doesn't work out, right?

EDIT: posted, hope it's alright. I just set up a reason for Karl (npc) to obtain Intensify. Feel free to use him yourselves.

Mikoto, feel free to continue or skip the scene as you see fit. For Touko & Trystan, you can continue with the night time scene or move ahead to the Judgement office in the morning.

Just so you guys don't think I'm being left behind, I'll have Touko catch up with the group later. It doesn't really make sense for her to oin Judgement.

Well we've reached the first major plot decision in this rumour so it'd make sense to explain how urban legends/missions work.

Urban Legends are a little stricter than regular threads in that they're plotted a little tighter rather than our usual casual manner. Since we're following a specific plotline there are moments where your characters will have to make decisions about how to proceed. These choices will have consequences for the plot and it is even possible to fail a rumour (though these instances will be fairly rare) by making a poor decision. Most of the time it will simply move the story down another path.

So we have to decide how to deal with Skill Out. There are a few possibilities already and I'm sure you'll all be able to come up with a few of your own. You don't all have to do the same thing, characters can split off from the group to follow their own path temporarily.

Once your characters have made their decision, we'll proceed. If they can't come to an agreement I'll make a decision.

TL;DR Choose your own adventure!

I might give Mikoto's pov a little rest while Yamato and Touko do their scene/ Mai and Karl's bonding session . Also, I was wondering- since we'll be involving Skill Out, what do you guys think of introducing Capacity Down? If Mikoto goes to investigate on her own (and she's obviously over-confident that she'll succeed), I just feel the Skill Outs need some advantage...? Although they DO have Intensify. Eck, I dunno. What do you guys think?

i can see what you mean by them being underpowered right now. but then again, canon-wise, they've always been operating under this kind of pressure, no? that aside, canon-wise, they've got plenty of physical weaponry at their disposal that puts them at least on par with lvl 3 espers, so it's not that they're at a particular disadvantage in this particular case either (trystan's lvl 3, touko's lvl 0) - just majorly disadvantaged against your character's lvl 5 biribiri-pewpew XD.

on the other hand, while i'm not too familiar with just how much Intensify boosts a person's esper abilities (especially that of lvl 0's), i'm not too sure about suddenly introducing capacity down as well. sort of like a too-much-at-once kinda thing lol. more of, i'm wondering how close to canon we'll be allowing technologies of factions to progress. aka, if skill-out hasn't had any more techs revealed, and we reveal all their cards now, are we going to just add more stuff in later?

i'm not trying to say that i'm outright against adding capacity down in. in fact, it sounds like a really good chance for trystan+touko to be formally introduced to mikoto. with the capacity down coming in nullifying some of mikoto's abilities, and (if) trystan+touko decide to skip out on school (which can be arranged once we sort this thing out lol), the two's hand-to-hand would serve as the perfect medium for the probably violent mashup....assuming they didn't bring a whole mob :'D

I'd been considering the idea of introducing Capacity Down, but considering your characters haven't had a chance to really let loose with their powers I thought it would be a bit of a shame to depower them so soon.

Besides, these guys aren't the main event. They're just cannon fodder (assuming we end up fighting them). That's not to say they don't have ways of putting up a fight.

misaka noted that she gets out at 1230, trystan and touko got out at a bit past noon; distance between current location of karl and mai to tokiwadai/ACHS isn't specified, so we can just assume that this distance and individual pacing takes care of the disparity between exit times.

NPCs are more or less free for anyone to control, though certain NPCs can be reserved by particular players if they have some use for them. Obviously that would require telling people you're reserving that NPC in the relevant OOC thread.
