FULL NAME: Tomokota Renavin
OTHER ALIAS: Blood Joker
CURRENT AGE: 20
GENDER: Male
OCCUPATION:
SCHOOL: None
FACTION: Necessarius
APPEARANCE: A tall young man, usually seen wearing a brown hooded robe. His eyes are crimson red and has long red hair. His skin is slightly tanned and has white teeth. When he's not wearing the robe, he wears a simple yellow shirt long-sleeve, the right sleeve being cut off, and brown cargo pants. He's always seen with a confident look, or a bored expression depending on what he's doing. He's also always seen with a girl: Adalia, who does almost nothing, but does as he does, almost like a doll.
HEIGHT: 189cm
WEIGHT: 159lb
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES: He has a single ear piercing on his left earlobe with a small silver cross, finely detailed in design. A nice platinum ring on his right index finger.
PERSONALITY:
Competitive
Renavin, like most people, do not like to lose. Even in the smallest of conflicts. Conflicts that he's at a disadvantage to, he would refuse to quit till he's won or it's dragging out too long.
Persuasive
Renavin had taken time to learn the patterns of emotion, actions, posture and so on. He can read almost anyone and can make a logical guess what's on their mind. Obviously he cant pin point it exactly, but gets a basic idea. He tends to use this on people when it comes to negotiations, being a social person, he'd know how to interact and manipulate people.
Partially insane
In relation to his battle obsession, he can sometimes get to the point where his obsession shows too brightly, and becomes absolutely driven to kill his target by any means.
Teaser
He likes to taunt and tease others openly for his amusement, mainly those he is in conflict with.
LIKES:
Hot drinks, Nice weather, Snakes, Cats, Swimming, Fishing, Killing (to an extent), Long walks, company, games.
DISLIKES:
being disturbed during some form of entertainment, boring afternoons, short naps, quick fights
STRENGTHS:
He's great at multitasking. Good with people and socializes often. Very persuasive. Generous to others often and gets along with almost everyone around him. Loyal to his higher ups, if he remained free from condemnation. An Exception to this if someone else had something he wanted.
WEAKNESSES:
Carried away at times with fights, making it hard to work with him. Sometimes seen as a cynical man in battle. Uses his 'goal' as an excuse to fight. Can't fight efficient without magical swords. Must kill two people every month in order to use his ability.
HISTORY: Renavin was exposed to magic at a young age, an orphan who lived under the rules of the Church of England and was taught by sorcerers with the last generation of Magicians. Just like everyone else, he started off fresh and adequate, nothing really standing out besides his undeniable faith to the church. He also became the most matured in his group, being very friendly and appropriate to others. Renavin took a liking to swordsmanship and fencing as he grew to his late teens, and would often spar with other people his age or sometimes a knight if they were available. He was also known for having an advanced study of blood magic, and would take quite an interest to Aztec Occult and would be inherited with the Grimoire: Tezcatlipoca, which is in the form as a suitcase which carries vast quantities of telesma from the consumption of Aztec Magicians throughout the centuries.
After years passed, he became a known Exorcist, a bit out of his element, but it was what he could provide for a living. However, his methods were forceful, and overall even if the exorcism worked, it would kill or maim the victim, and after doing it multiple times, he was condemned by the church and watched under supervision. He's been imprisoned for years losing his blood magic. His lifeline was ticking away, and with his Grimoire came a toll that he'd be consumed by it if it were to end at one point. Even though it wasn't with him while in detainment, he is still bound to it like a chain to a wall. Necessarius had other plans, and saw usefulness in him, as they took him from his condemned state and made him into an attack dog of sorts for them. And is currently lurking somewhere in academy city, on standby. Or perhaps looking for a certain library of Grimoires to seal away his Tezcatilpoca before it will consume him.
However, while being stationed in Academy city, he slowly stepped into the dark side of Academy city because of a simple concept that's been driving him. Cloning. The girl: Adalia he's seen with isn't actually a normal person. She's actually a clone of a close childhood friend Renavin once had while learning and becoming a magician. She wasn't anything special, just a normal girl at the time. But when it came to him being gone for years due to his exorcisms, she eventually died from a car accident by the time he'd been released. Renavin fell into a depression, although keeping his word with Necessarius the best he could. When he found out about cloning, after reading a magazine about 'Dolly' (The first Cloned sheep), he eventually connected the dots and got curious. A city 20 years ahead in technology had to have something, right? Soon, he found it, and made the decision to work under the dark side in exchange to get her back. However, simple cloning would not do the trick as he found out later. In the end, Adalia, was a blank sleight, although he's been trying to find methods to restore her personality, and "resurrect" her in a sense. Even though, he had stepped into the dark side, he didn't take an official leave from Necessarius. Doesn't know whether or not Laura will or has found out about this compromise, but he cannot afford to go back now.
RANK:
(MAGIC NAME): Atone788
(ABILITY NAME): His magical ability is known as the Crimson Blade, having the ability to control spell crafted blades using his original spells based off blood magic. The Crimson blade are crafted out of two things. Blood and Mana. It seemed rather suitable since he didn't really need to carry any actual items. However, when it comes to forming the blade itself, he can morph into any shape he desires as long as it ain't too large for him to manipulate. Of course he has the limit of only being able to give off a liter of blood and still be combat effective. His default sword is rather average a and slim, with a hand guard that would surround his hand for protection, and to save on blood, he'd carve designs into them for not only taste, but to cut out excess blood effectively. Renavin, however, would have to at least kill twice a month to maintain his ability with magic. If not, his spells are worthless and his only back up is some basic spells he memorized which may not bode well when facing other magicians.
OTHER ABILITIES:
Master Swordsman
He has plenty of experience and training with the are of the sword. However this is also a weakness for him since it's what he usually relies on during battle.
Above Average Endurance
Due to battle experiences, Renavin can last a long time in battle before feeling the weight of exhaustion, however he is not aware of his limitations.
Tezcatlipoca
Tezcatlipoca is in fact a grimoire, in the shape of a briefcase. It's overwhelming knowledge and power is so strong that simply looking right at the case, will push you to your limits, which must be covered up almost completely. Not even the contractor is an exception to this grimoire, who can't witness it without endangering his/her own life. But using it is another story. The contracted magician must rub his own blood directly onto the grimoire in order to use it. With it Renavin his blood magic, making him a destructive force to reckon with. On top of that, he can use the telesma alone to summon an entire stampede of familiars if he has a large enough deck, 100-200 strong. However, using this grimoire will come at a heavy cost. There's no real choice on what you lose, nor how much. It can range from shortening of lifespan, serious mental damage leading to insanity, permanent physical damage, or perhaps something much more severe. You basically gamble more than just your life, and it's not certain what will happen if you do. Renavin, knowing this, decided never to use this grimoire unless he is pushed into a situation in which he is required to.
Silver Ring Thorn
The ring he bears on his hand has a hidden metal thorn than can be switched open, in which he uses to cut himself and draw blood out to use for his sword. He would then use a little mana to heal the cut.
Sacrificial blade
Aztec designed blade used to cut open his hand and unlock his Grimoire: Tezcatlipoca and use the hidden away telesma inside.
Familiar Summoner
Familiar summoning is not too difficult, but if used carelessly, can be cause harm to the host/magician using this particular magic. After capturing a familiar properly, all they need to summon it, regardless of size, life span, ect, only needs a small amount of blood smeared on the familiar paper, symbolizing the animal inside. The blood in which is either dripped or smeared on the paper, represents the body of the familiar, while the mana taken from the magician represents it's actual life. Its fairly easy to make sure you don't use too much blood, however, summoning familiar is like jump starting a car when it comes to mana. It needs that bit of energy/mana to actually work as a living breathing animal. However the main problem with this is not the Mana itself, but the blood. Renavin cannot summon every familiar in his deck, considering how much blood he would need to use to summon them. What makes this worse is that Renavin needs a portion of his blood for his weaponry. With nothing, he could summon up to 15, a dagger or knife would lower it to 9, a regular sword would be 6, and something as big as a claymore sword would bring it all the way down to 2-3

Re: [Magician] Tomokota Renavin
- Test Post:
- Tomokota Renavin walked down the dark road sluggishly, his bangs draped over his eyes. He felt as if a train had smashed his spirit into tiny shards of sharp glass, digging into his chest and ripping his insides apart. From the very distance behind him, he had walked from the graveyard in which he found something he didn't wish to see. On one of those stones read 'Adalia Lindel', a name he was all too familiar with.
"...After all that time...After everything I've worked hard for just to see her again..." Renavin gritted his teeth in dismay and anger. He had just left his organization known as the Roman Catholic Church since they did not meet the same goals he wished for. And in his lonely state, he went to his home town only to find the one attachment to the remote town to be gone.
"You already knew this, didn't you?" A robed man from a dark alley way spoke, causing Renavin to stop in his tracks to look up vaguely. "Heheheh, I-I mean you think we didn't know the main reason you learned the magic know was to resurrect the dead, right? Just the possibility is disgusting enough..." The man sneered as other people started to appear around Renavin. "The Roman Catholic church has decided that your magic is unholy, and due to charges of heresy." Renavin felt a smirk coming on everyone's faces. "We've been given the task to give you retribution, in the name of our lord."
All four had surrounded him, but Renavin seemed unfazed as he look dully toward the first magician who had taunted him all this time. Slowly, but determined, Renavin pulled out a dagger and with a swift motion, cut his palm open. Dark liquid dripped from it like it was supposed to, but in a couple seconds, it started to shift and move abnormally, the drops stretching and colliding with each other as they formed a long fencing blade. He also ran the blade along two pieces of paper, to be more precise, summoning circles were written on them. Using a bit of blood on each, they glowed an ominous red as they both drifted to the ground. The insignia's glowed brighter and brighter until they practically exploded in smoke and dust.
"Quick! He's summoning his familiars!" One of them lunged forward toward the smoke, the sound of a blade cutting through the air. The sound of a heavy mass falling vaguely on the ground was heard, well as the splattering of liquid, the three remaining magicians remained vigilant, the dim light of the street lamp doing nothing for their vision. Two low figures would burst out from the sides of the smoke, sprinting abnormally fast down the alley ways. The hesitated a bit, but they were too slow to properly make out what they were. No doubt it was his familiars. And by the time the smoke cleared, a body laid on the floor, limp and still as stone, a puddle of crimson forming around the chest cavity. "So this is the Blood Joker..."
Renavin took tired, but ominous steps forward, his red eyes glowing with the flowing anger he had. "You come here to my home...while I grieve with sorrow for one whom i failed to witness again...And try take me away now of all times..." He mumbled softly with a slight growl in his voice, his red blade dripping with blood, the magicians unsure if that was his own, or their dead comrade. "I shall give you my own punishment."
The Three magicians hesitated, one of them staggering backwards, while one took action first. "Sinful Restraints!" He chanted, a purple spell circle appeared before his hand, as magical aura of thorny vines suddenly grew out and lunged Renavin. A series of slashes followed quickly, Renavin's sword being whipped at high speeds, cutting down the vines as he advanced slowly. Of course, he knew this wasn't going to work, but the plan was to make it seem like they were trying. "William!"
"Yes, sir." The magician known as William replied as he swiftly moved his hand along his belt, grabbing an array of needles and flicking them all above Renavin, in some sort of formation as well. Renavin, too preoccupied with the vines trying to restrict him, they all stabbed into the ground in a hexagonal formation around him, the needles glowing a dim purple while the man chanted something in some language Renavin was unfamiliar with, they glowed more rapidly and then suddenly the needles fired a light beam right above Renavin, each connecting at a single point while barriers took up the empty spaces in between the lines. He was now stuck, with in a one way barrier. Things can come in, but nothing can get out. "Hmph, can't believe he fell for a simple trick." William scoffed.
"...Oi, where's Randal?" One of them realized one of their compatriots is missing. How could they have possible missed him? But there answer was soon shown when growls emitted from the alley ways. A large grey wolf, jaw stained red with blood, bared it's teeth as it came to view. Through the commotion it had sank it's jaws on the magician's neck, and was unable to scream for help as he was dragged into the alley way. "Dammit, kill-"
William game a loud scream of pain, as the second wolf had lunged quickly from behind and sank it's teeth into his shoulder, losing concentration of his capture spell, and the needles temporarily lost their power. Swiftly, Renavin moved toward the second magician and before he knew it, he felt a quick sharp pain in his chest, as he stabbed right into the his chest cavity and through his heart with just a quick thrust in and a thrust out. He fell with a desperate breath, before dying on the floor. William however managed shake the wolf off and backed away in fear before running away. His magic wasn't meant for offensive, it was more for supporting other magicians, so in a head way fight, he knew he would lose. He ran desperately down the street as he tried to think of a way to defend himself, thoughts running through his mind. They could've won this battle, if they hadn't been so careless.
"...Chase him down." Renavin muttered cruelly as the wolves suddenly lunged forward down the street to finish the bleeding William off. Ignoring the distant screams, Renavin look dully to the ground, his crimson blade slowly retracting back into his hand and using magic to seal the wound he had caused. The tinge of regret tainted his mind, as he thought if this was the best course of action: Tainting the asphalt with blood, his wonderful home town. Did he pay proper respects or did he throw all that out the window? He couldn't answer that question, but when the wolves returned, teeth as red as his hair, they bowed down before turning into smoke, nothing left but the summoning paper he had used. He slowly bent down and grabbed it, putting them back in the deck of paper he already had.
"...Now...What should I do.."

Re: [Magician] Tomokota Renavin
I'm trying to make some sense of him. Basically he's a orphan raised by the Roman Catholic Church who grew up only to realize from studying the history of Roman Catholics that the leaders from the past committed evil and thus deemed the current organization lying sinners.
He then decided that he'll go join the Anglicans because...?
The point I'm trying to make here is that both organization have done just as much as good as they've done evil. In the series we do end up seeing some fanatical zealots from Roman Catholics but that pales in comparison to the schemes Arch Bishop employs in running Necessarius. So I don't quite understand how one is seemingly less evil than the other.
I also can't follow how finding bad past deeds centuries ago in medieval times would somehow dictate that all Roman Catholics are evil and bad. It'd be like American civilian studying WWII came across the aftermath video with gruesome details of how many died during the dropping of the atom bomb and that suddenly decided that they don't want to live in America and they moved to Iraq. Like for sure, when you look at the past of any country/leaders I'm sure you can criticize the actions they made whether it's right or wrong. But should that solely be the reasoning why you would suddenly want to make a drastic changes and defect? What about the friends you made during your whole life while you grew up in the monasteries? Do you suddenly call them evil scums and turn your magic on them? All because you found some evidence that the Church has committed evil in the past for the religious rites and a greater good they believed in? I think it's completely random and very out of place that he'd go out of his way to make enemies with a giant magic cabal that raised him to be what he is today, an accomplished magician.
He's also very naive as a magician if he seriously believed that the Church did no evil. Necessary evils that requires God's servants to dirty their hands, and guess what? that's exactly what Necessarius means in english, Church of Necessary Evils.
Super contradictions are at work here.
I'm also under the belief that if he was RAISED by the Roman Catholic Church then he'd have been strictly educated to never doubt the actions of the Church and to believe blindly at the miracles God bestow upon his trusted servants. Look at the battle nuns of Agnese forces. Those are the typical children raised by Roman Catholics since early age, I'd imagine Renavin isn't any different from them if he was really raised by Roman Catholics.
As for the magic you gave him...
Are there any myth or lore you wanted to tie in with that spell? At the moment it sounds like something about as baseless as Prisma Illya magic spells. Things that appear because they can. It works in shows like Strike the Blood but not here. One thing magic shares in common with different spells in To Aru is that they have connections to the realm of occult we have in the real world. You listed the 7 deadly sins but the properties of the swords had almost no connections to the properties of those sins to start off.
It's almost like being asked if I can have a magician that can summon a beam of laser shaped like a rabbit that has ears that burn through everything and anything that comes in contact with it and attach some fancy name to it like the laser doom bunny of excalibur. You attached the 7 deadly sins to it but it has no connection to anything to do with the deadly sins other than putting some makeup on the swords to sound aesthetically pleasing.
You really need to think about the connections behind Renavin's actions and everything about him before making a rash decision of turning one of the largest magic cabals as his enemies by turning into a turncoat deserter.
I know the occult stuff is hard to pin down, actually this is probably the sole reason most people on this site gives up prematurely before they even attempt to make a magician because it's confusing when you're asked to make connection with your spells and the occult. But these are things I'd like to maintain canon lest we turn the magicians into magical girls or super saiyans with no trace of how any of these are magic to begin with. Magic in To aru = Occult.

Re: [Magician] Tomokota Renavin
I changed my ability since I couldn't really find a way to make it work and my creativity drew a blank when it came to crafting the seven deadly blades with properties suitable to the sin they are labelled under. History was changed as well but the end result stayed, he's still in Necessarius. Also my test post will need to be redone, but go ahead and look at the profile because the test post will mean nothing if the ability won't work either. But if you take your time, i should have a test post ready before the end of tomorrow...hopefully. Anyway, take you time.

Re: [Magician] Tomokota Renavin
I don't see any big problems this time but would like to clarify few things. If these 18 swords are made from the magician's blood just how big are they? Just thought I'd note this but an average adult carries anything between 8 pints worth of blood and it's relatively safe to lose about 1 pint worth of blood.
Any more than that and the human body starts to go into a irreversible shock. In that regard I think Kurimiya in the video raised a valid point in that she can only summon a single blade at all times without going into a shock/blackout which I think is probably somewhat relevant to you since you're also using a customized weapon crafted from your own blood. If you study her fighting style, she very rarely ever let go of the amount of blood to waste and it's usually attached to her at all times. I think this also allows her to directly manipulate it's form and length at will which turns ordinary swordsmanship to an unpredictable swordplay. I think its somewhat too dangerous for you to lose so much blood to be able to create 18 floating swords of blood. You'd sooner die from losing so much blood than die from an enemy attack while you control 18 swords.
As for his rank. I think you're somewhat mistaken about the Sorcerers. True enough yes their description is very similar to a magic instructor but far from it, they're more fitting descriptions for a leader of a magic cabal that spreads influence of magic by gathering followers. Also I don't think Renavin has what it takes to be able to handle a direct power from a Grimoire. People like Aleister Crowley (Before he became the upside down man inside a fish tank) could be considered as someone worthy of being called a Sorcerer. There's a huge difference between a Sorcerer and a Magic Instructor.
Last but least I still can't picture Renavin as the kind of gentle magic instructor out to do good as your history describes about him. At least going by his personality of Vatler clone ( battle thirsty at all times) I figured he was more suited as a former exorcist who botched up one too many jobs using excessive force and was condemned until he was picked up as a blood hound for Necessarius where his talents are best put to use than rotting inside a cell. What do you think?

Re: [Magician] Tomokota Renavin
Sorry this took alot longer than what you'd normally wait but I just want to clarify one last thing.
Other than the fact his blood swords can be hidden and pulled out of his veins at any time, turning it into a hidden weapon, is this any different from fighting with normal swords?
I feel that as a Magician he lacks well... magic in some regards to be called a Magician in this case.
I can have this approved as is but I get the feeling you might find yourself quite outclassed by other Magicians who can do alot more than fight with edged weapons.
It's up to you, please get back to me and I'll decide what to do after.

Re: [Magician] Tomokota Renavin
Approved
While we discussed it at length I might get Guy to give the final OK before getting this Magician approved. I'm confident we have a very strong Magician but maybe we built him abit too strong. I'll let Guy know and have him give the final verdict.
EDIT
Approved by both Guy and Index

Re: [Magician] Tomokota Renavin
Well after clarifying a few things with Index regarding the use of the Grimoire (my only major concern) I think I can approve this profile.
With regards to his Grimoire, it should really be a 'final attack' sort of deal saved for the most dire of circumstances. As long as we can keep to that condition then there shouldn't be an issue.
