Level 3 Remote Reach
"Physical education? Why?! Why do we even bother with it when the entire point of the Power Curriculum is to train the mind?!"
FULL NAME: Tsuneo Takashi
OTHER ALIAS: Taka
CURRENT AGE: 17
GENDER: Male
OCCUPATION: Student, part time electronics store sales associate, Judgement
SCHOOL: A Certain Highschool
FACTION: Judgement
APPEARANCE: "Tall" is generally the single word most used to describe Takashi by strangers. Despite having only just hit the mid stride of puberty and an incredibly awkward growth spurt over the course of his sixteenth year, Takashi stands at a lofty five foot eleven, and with another few years to go it's probable that the young man will likely put on another several before things are through. That isn't to say, however, that Takashi is necessarily big in the traditional sense. While he has the height, the student isn't beefy or heavily built by a long shot, body put together to resemble the physique of a runner rather than a weight lifter and weighing in at a rough but only average 142 pounds for his build.
Beyond his height, though, most of the remaining intimidation factor one might experience on meeting Takashi is largely just a result of simple appearance rather than personality. Dark haired and with dark grey irises that seem to fade directly into his pupils (by extension making them difficult to differentiate at all under most conditions), the teen's otherwise sharp facial features tend to give Takashi the rather stereotypical appearance of a delinquent or street thug, a fact not at all helped by his rather plain and simple clothing preferences.
HEIGHT: Five feet eleven inches
WEIGHT: One hundred forty two pounds.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES: None aside from his height.
PERSONALITY:
Booksmart
Takashi is smart. Very, very smart. Despite all appearances to the contrary, the student's intelligence is likely his biggest strength, and his brain is the go to tool for nearly any and every problem to be thrown at him.
Lazy
Unfortunately, however, the student's sheer intelligence is often off set by his laziness in equal measure - or worse, often acts to enable it, generally allowing the teen to figure out how to get away with the least work possible. This has made itself particularly known in his academics - while Takashi managed to blow through nearly all of his high school coursework months in advance, nearly all of it was done to be just barely "good enough" before moving onto the next bit, only bothering to put effort into the subjects that directly impacted his academic future in college, specifically sciences and mathematics.
Curious
That is not, however, to say that he is by any means arrogant as a result, but rather the exact opposite, with much of his outlook on the world guided by the realization that for everything someone learns, more often than not the information will just show them exactly how much they don't know.
Tolerant
This, by extension, has also led Takashi to be incredibly tolerant of other views, particularly those that don't match his own - who is to say that they don't have information that he does't, or failing that, have simply reasoned their way to a different but perfectly valid conclusion using the same information?
Introvert
Conversely, for all of his intelligence, more often than not Takashi tends to jump to conclusions when pushed, and as a result will often act before fully thinking decisions through under pressure. This particular flaw isn't exactly helped by the fact that Takashi isn't the most assertive person you'll ever meet - while he won't have any trouble voicing his opinions and backing them around people he knows and is comfortable with, more often than not he'll back down and look for alternatives when pitted against more forceful personalities.
LIKES:
Video gaming, reading, science fiction, family, being pushed to his intellectual limits.
DISLIKES:
Willful ignorance, bigotry, physical labor, temperature extremes, incorrect spelling and grammar, spicy/bitter foods.
STRENGTHS:
Comprehension and application of science in practical means (particularly physics), spotting connections between people/events/places, multitasking.
WEAKNESSES:
Anything involving extended physical work (at most he can run for a handful of minutes before running out of breath, can barely lift half his weight for as long).
HISTORY: Takashi's life, starting out, was far from what anyone would call exciting or even particularly special.
While born in Tokyo proper as it housed the nearest hospital and his parents had made preparations weeks in advance to his due date, Takashi himself would hold no memory of the city for the first several years of his life. With a geologist for a mother and an elementary teacher for a father, nearly the entirety of the boy's early childhood would be spent growing up on Aogashima, a small island in the Philippine Sea off the coast of Japan and administered by Tokyo. Effectively only a small spit of land barely three by four kilometers, the island's community was minimal, consisting almost entirely of geologists and the other bare essentials needed to keep things running and the islanders as self sufficient as possible. By and large a rural environment, the most that Takashi would see of the outside world for several years would be presented to him through the internet and television, with the only other additions to his life outside of that being the birth of a sister a year younger than him, and a brother the year after that.
With age, however, would come inevitable change, a fact further made apparent by the island's lack of anything more advanced than a single elementary school. Already noted to be a quick learner early on, it had been made rather apparent to Takashi's elders that Aogashima was too small for the boy - both in a literal and figurative sense, as the lack of any higher education meant that he would eventually need to be sent to the mainland regardless. The only issue, however, was where. As they had both been single children themselves growing up, one of the facts that had contributed to their decision to provide Takashi with siblings, neither of his parents had any remaining relatives outside of Aogashima. Were he sent to the mainland, it would be alone, or necessitate one or both of them finding other jobs and moving their family. The answer, however, would eventually present itself in the form of an old family friend, another academic who had chosen to pursue a career in education, contacting them with a possible solution - to stay with their family in Academy City, and to continue Takashi's education there.
While initially hesitant due to the drastic change it presented as far as environment went, Takashi's parents were eventually forced to concede that it did solve virtually all of the associated problems - room and board with people they knew able to keep an eye on their son, and more importantly, an environment that would challenge him without the periodic upheaval of moving from one neighborhood to another each time circumstances called for a change in school. Thirteen at the time of his elementary school graduation, Takashi would find himself shipped off of the island of Aogashima to experience the mainland for the first time in memory.
The change, at first, was overwhelming. Having been raised in a rural environment his entire life up to that point, what Takashi was presented with could only bring to his mind the boy's more childish daydreams of the future and science fiction, and while a great deal to process and handle, Academy City quickly became something that the teen wanted to be a part of. Eager to immerse himself in the new world, Takashi would view entering the Power Curriculum Program alongside his normal studies as a privilage, and even in spite of the workload the boy still managed to keep up with his classmates, if only barely. That, however, would begin to change as Takashi became more and more comfortable with his new environment - with less time and effort being expended on trying to force himself to mix with the various social circles of his class mates, more would be devoted to his studies instead.
The age of fourteen would mark what would be both a large yet miniscule change in Takashi's life, namely his identification as a Level 1 through the System Scan after spending the entirety of his first year in the city as a Level 0. While ecstatic that the Curriculum had worked, much of the mental high that came with the realization was tempered by other developments in the teen's life - his own habit of planning ahead years in advance and already looking at colleges to better plan his high school years, and more to the point, effectively being booted from his host's house due to something of a messy divorce until the dust settled. While not without other plans for his wellbeing having been put into place for events beyond his control, namely a small student dorm, the development of a Level 1 ability hardly compared to the more pressing issues in his life at the time.
The following several months, ironically, would contain much of the upheaval that his parents had been hoping to avoid. While Takashi was able to remain in the same public school, the teen would begin to both work towards his eventual university goal well in advance of his classmates, as well as use what time he had left on his hands to begin carrying some of his own weight. Redirecting his academic efforts to simply "get by" in all of his subjects not directly pertaining to what he wished to study in college, the teen would begin to use the extra time afforded by the decrease in effort to build a "buffer" of sorts, completing coursework days and eventually weeks in advance with the goal of freeing up even more time. Between the small but notable cost of living and actions he could take to additionally up his odds of acceptance after graduation, Takashi would likewise take up a part time job at an electronics store in District 15.
Stretched thin in spite of his rather unique ability to handle multiple projects at any given time, the Power Curriculum prioritized above all else to further develop his abilities into something meaningful, but even with the triage in place Takashi would struggle a great deal during his second and third years in Academy City. While the graduation from middle to high school would only put additional pressure on him during his freshman year, however, Takashi would eventually begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel with the start of his Junior year in high school. With an early application put into one of the city's higher universities and early acceptance, however, the pressure would finally let up in the second half - with his high school grades no longer truly relevant beyond needing to pass, much of the stress in Takashi's life would disappear, with his senior year looking ahead to be smooth, easy sailing in preparation for the college education to come afterwards. With time on his hands once again, the teen would also apply to join Judgement, realizing that in addition to the pay his other job would supply towards his future college costs, participation in the organization would weigh heavily in his favor later on in any future career path.
RANK: Recruit
LEVEL: 3
Remote Reach: One of the most common abilities within Academy City, Takashi is able to remotely lift and manipulate objects via telekinesis. Due to the inherent simplicity of the ability when compared to most of the others, the calculations are done simply by envisioning the object he wishes to manipulate, and the method of manipulation he wishes to achieve. Unfortunately, this also creates something of a major blind spot in that he must be explicitly aware of the object he wishes to target - it must be visible. While this isn't an issue for objects he is looking at, for anything outside of his immediate field of vision he needs to have seen it within recent memory, recently enough that he can recall both exact position relative to where he is as well as the appearance of the object in question. Beyond that, Takashi's ability is strictly limited to objects within a 14 meter radius of him, cannot directly be used on himself and can only affect solid objects, not liquids or gasses. Finally, Takashi's current degree of ability has a set weight limit - at most he can only lift up to a combined 180 kilograms, and only up to two objects at any given time.
OTHER ABILITIES: Any other talents or non supernatural abilities or equipment used by your character.
Multitasker
A natural ability, and one that Takashi was noted for only weeks after entering high school within the city. The teen is particularly proficient at performing several tasks simultaneously, without any negative impact to what he is doing at the time.
One Of Us
A science fiction nerd at heart, and one would be hard pressed to find anyone who could surpass him in this regard. Ironically, this has given the teen an incredible understanding and comprehension of his power, with many of his uses of it directly inspired by the various fandoms he follows.
Cook
A picky eater, Takashi has long since learned how to cook - and cook very well - by necessity in an effort to avoid starvation within Academy City.
Speed Reader/Typer
Partly due for his aptitude for gaming, Takashi has the ability to both take in and put out staggering amounts of information with a monitor and keyboard interface, able to read over most pages in a matter of seconds and maintain a typing speed of roughly 170 words per minute.
Excellent reflexes
Yet again, born of Takashi's love of gaming, and only honed in recent years with the growing relevance of handheld and console gaming. While not particularly physically adept, the teen is incredibly quick to perceive and react to threats and changes in his environment.
CHARACTER THEME: A selection of musical tracks to act as your character's motif or background music. Can include as many or as few tracks as you wish.
PLAYER'S NAME: Spartan
CHATANGO NAME: Spartan291

FACE CLAIM: Takasu Ryuuji, Toradora

Hook me up a new revolution
'Cause this one is a lie
We sat around laughing and watched the last one die
Life was a funny thing. At times, it had a certain poetry to it, at others, a certain element of humor that was hard to find when you looked for it. At this particular moment, however? Cold, cruel, terrible irony.
When Takashi had gotten his learner's permit, it had been one of the best days of his life since the start of it within Academy City. On par with the day he found out he wasn't a Level 0 anymore. No, scratch that, better. It had been a signal of freedom, of better things to come - no longer was he tied down by train and bus schedules, no more was he at the mercy of others for transportation. He had been made master of his own time, able to freely go where he pleased, work by his own hours, nay, screw that, eat out whenever he wanted. Aside from the cost in maintaining the thing, he didn't even need to worry about gas, something that Takashi had known right from the start was something that he'd only find to be a nonissue in Academy City - had he gotten the thing anywhere else the savings he would've made would have been a wash with gas costs.
All of that, however, ruined. Gone. Dust in the wind.
Outside of the Judgement recruitment center, Takashi could only stand in place, sun beating down on the teen as he faced an empty parking space. A space that should have been occupied by a sky blue motor scooter, bought not even two weeks ago with the money born of his blood, sweat and tears. Nooononononono. Not like this. Crashed, crushed, hell, even blasted by some Level 3 or higher by accident or even for funsies, but stolen? From right in front of Judgement's recruiting office? This was cruelty in its basest form, a kick to the teeth when everything was finally starting to fall into place for after high school. Would insurance cover it? Given that it was a scooter and could hardly be locked to keep anyone out, probably not, and all Takashi could do was stand and mentally begin listing all the things that the apparently exorbitant waste of money could have bought. The bills it could have paid.
If this was any indication, it was going to be a very long, very irritating summer.

Re: [Esper] Tsuneo Takashi
A tall delinquent like Judgement member, that brings back memories.
1. Judgement Membership
I hope he is aware of the physical tests one has to go through in order to make it into Judgement. Those things are rather tough after all; meaning not anyone would be able to pass easily.
2. History
Well, the typical issue the anime never really covered. Students in Academy City rarely live in apartments of their own; actually paying an apartment in this city is impossible for an ordinary student, even with family support. Plus the city wouldn’t really want their students to live on their own.
Having an own apartment is absolutely unnecessary anyway, as every student living in Academy City is given a dorm room (see Touma) for free and being paid for their participation in the Power Curriculum Program, meaning they get enough money to pay for all of life’s expenses, the higher your Esper Level, the more you gain.
So all in all: Please change his living situation to that of living in a dorm room.
I hope you are aware that Judgment is no ordinary part time job. While there is no money you can gain from it, it is a thing eating up most of the free time of the members with lengthy work shifts or randomly being called in by the office for support.
3. Ability
You’re not gonna fill in a name for your ability? If not I will take the task of naming the ability at the end of the eval.Fear the wrath of Eros 669!
On the other hand, though, I will kindly ask you to settle for a different ability, as space control is an absolute no go. The potential behind such an ability is just too great, not simply for the kind of opness it would bring with it, but simply because of the large number of possibilities it offers. While there are abilities like Electromaster out there that have quite a broad field of application, they are actually limited to only a smaller field of applications (excluding the higher levels).
Not to forget that a thing like space control would feature calculations even more difficult than those of a certain #1’s vector control.
Abilities with a broad spectrum like Electromaster are a rare breed anyway and therefore aren’t approved that often. Most of the abilities in the To Aru Verse are rather specialised or focused on the creation or manipulation of smaller phenomena like Teleport, Float Dial, Violence Doughnut etc. Not to forget that most are subtypes of the larger fields.

Re: [Esper] Tsuneo Takashi
1.) Takashi's aware, it's more a mentality of "enduring the suck so he can do what he wants to later" - if it guarantees being able to pursue his chosen career goals, he'll deal with whatever's thrown at him for a job he'll enjoy later.
2.) Fixed.
3.) Fixed as per Chatango chat, hope that fits.

Re: [Esper] Tsuneo Takashi
Random comment: I actually watched The Wolverine last week, heh.
Not so random comment: Participation in the Power Curriculum is a requirement to study in Academy City, not to forget that it’s a major part of any school’s overall educational program.
3. Ability
Esper Abilities are strongly depending on calculations and therefore the overall brain activity, thus in most cases an Esper is required to focus when using his ability in any way. While there are some passively working abilities those are rather rare and have only weak passive applications, meaning extensive passive usage is out of question.
To cut it short I want you to limit the passive regenerative effect to minor outside wounds like small cuts or simple burns and protection from illnesses. Heavier damage however would require for Tsuneo to actually focus on the damages he’s taken, doing the calculations necessary etc etc. So this would mean if he were to be knocked out in any way, lose focus or receives any form of damage to his brain, he wouldn’t be able to apply his ability anymore just like any other Esper out there.
And just like any other Esper out there, Tsuneo has some time limits on himself. How long would it take until the healing takes effect (there has to be a short timeframe for his brain to process the calculations either way, be it subconscious or conscious)? How long is the regeneration time for an average cut and how long for something much more severe?
You can also add knowledge about human anatomy to his skill-set, that’d come in handy if you asked me.

Re: [Esper] Tsuneo Takashi
Due to Tsuneo’s request for a change of abilities this profile was re-evaluated by me. We approved of said change considering the fact that the ability wasn’t shown or mentioned in the RP so far, thus not requiring any form of retconning.
Logically spoken the old approval is from this point on to be considered as invalid.
