[SNPC/Magician] Martha Poppins
FULL NAME: Martha Poppins (Beathen)
AGE: 80
GENDER: Female
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A frail old women who wears the traditional English maid outfit and have short curly hair. Despite her weak and frail appearance she seem oddly capable of doing many tasks. Alex often describes her physical appearance a perfect example for not judging a book by its cover.
INFORMATION: At the surface she seems to be the Head maid of the Beathen Household, but in truth she is the grandmother of Alexander but the fact has remained a secret not only from him but everyone.
Being formally an espionage agent of the secret service she is the exact opposite of the traditional honourable members of the Beathen house hold, who often employ underhanded tactics which the beathens look down poorly on. But she seems to be the exception to the rule and because of her choice she had long abandoned her real last name to protect the family's reputation.
This act to abandon her real last name and become an espionage agent in her youth was so perfectly done that none of her family realises she's the mother of the current Head of house; Charles Beathen.
Not even her children realise think thinking their mother died many years ago, not long after they was born. Alexander's own grandfather once confirmed this to him before he died. This showed that Martha truly was dedicated to her role for the longest part of her life. And even to this day she still hadn't been found out by her own family and rarely no one else.
At the age of 50 she had decided to return to her family, applying for being the Head maid she had gotten the job thanks to her husband who was still head at that time. This allowed her to continue to watch over her children and even future generations after her husband died passing on the tittle of head to Charles.
And even though she had retried from her secretive role she employs her skills for the use of her family. Though they don't understand how, they accept Martha nonetheless and never ask her exactly how she does except for Alexander. Who seems time and time again attempt to figure out the mysterious Head Maid, who is often seen conversing with blue birds. Alexander believes very well that Martha is someone with many skeletons in the closet but for some reason he still trusts her completely.
Being rather cunning, sarcastic and ultimately caring when it comes to her family. She often more than not hides her anger, when someone threatens her family and is quick to unleash her rage on them. Though in more of a manner of manipulating information for the use to destroy her enemies.
Despite stepping away from her former life, she still retains vast reaching information network which she puts it to the use of protecting her grandson and the family.
Even if it means going against her former employers when she was an espionage agent.
It's believed her information network consists of Maids across the country, but also the birds and animals that roam the country. With age Martha has lost much of her combat ability and while she no longer is able to use her Umbrella as a fierce weapon, she more often then not still hits people over the head with it if they deserve it.
ABILITIES: While she isn't physically as strong as she used to be when younger, Martha still is rather strong as an old women. Which allows her to do various tasks which normally would be impossible for her age. But she still gets tired very quickly which shows clear signs of her apparent age and has to take break here and there.
Using the story of Marry Poppins as the bases of her magic, she has overwritten it with religious motifs, which including the powerful symbolism in the maid outfit she wears, the umbrella she uses and even the last name she adopted. She also has to chant the phrase 'Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious' before using some of her abilities like an unusual ritual, which acts as one of the mechanisms for activating them. Since there is nothing to say for her some of her abilities, that phrase had become something to say for when there is nothing to say.
Acting as a trigger.
However this counted mostly when she was much younger, not with age and events that had long happened Martha had lost most of her power and no longer has the ability to recover them or use any other magic.
Communication with Animals: The ability to chinwag with birds and other wildlife. While it's not an ability with a name, she chants the word that has to be said with nothing to say. As that as a trigger and with in mind the intention to speak with animals this finds inspiration from the many times Marry Poppins has done the same thing in the tales. Since this is taking Idol theory into play, though the act of an infant's curisoity who stares without blinking and reaching out to the animal she wanted to speak too as a form of ritual to perform this spell. This only seem to work with animals she has befriended and doesn't work with animals she has seen for the first time.
She can use this ability for information gathering, with birds being the most used tools of this trade. While it requires befriending Martha is very old and its believe she has many birds under her power.
Gravity defying Umbrella: With Idol theory in work through the application of her Umbrella as an spiritual item. It allows her to float to the ground regardless of the weight she is carrying and thus makes a very useful item to escape from high up places. To activate this item she often carries a bag which symbolizes the traveler and leaps into the air in a percuiler pose.
Martha Chop: While she no longer retains any attacking spells, she has this one weapon which could hit pretty hard if the person isn't expecting it. She swings pretty hard with her umbrella despite her age.
Strengths: With age her spells and combat ability have weakened but with age comes wisdom. Being a former spy she has the knowledge to deal with most situations out of experience and more often then not have the advice needed to give to her grandson on various of matters of many magical situations. This is because she has large amounts of knowledge of elemental magic and runic magic. She also specialize in the knowledge of travel or teleportation magic but seems to lack the ability to cast them herself.
Her sly and cunning behaviour hasn't weakened whatsoever, using her words and contacts with the information she can gather at alarming speed to help turn the tide with words rather then power. And her silver tounge retains it's touch and yet maybe the only thing which has improved with age.
Weakness: Because of her old age, her spells have severely weakened and she is no longer suited for combat. As such she would be able to last minutes in a serious combat situations where she cannot escape. But despite that she is still able to hit surprisingly hard with her umbrella.

Re: [SNPC/Magician] Martha Poppins
Well while it might be said that creating spells based on fictional lore would mean for the caster to craft them from scratch – which I would like you to note in the description – I think we can still stick to normal Idol Theory here, seeing the Cthulu based spells as some kind of guideline.
Overall I would ask you to give proper explanations as to how the Idol Theory she is using works by explaining the symbolism necessary to craft the spells she is using.
Communication with Animals
From what I found out one of Mary’s characteristic traits is the fact that she retained the magical secrets an infant possesses which is the reason as for why she is capable of communicating with animals. Thus I would ask you to include this into the idol theory behind said spell.
As for the rest of the spells: Are those based off the movie or the original books? While crafting spells from fictional lore is not impossible, basing them on movies or anything the like would pose a severe problem. I personally believe that such spells would be a heavy breach of the treaty, due to movies themselves not being part of the traditional definition of lore but an invention of science that is slowly killing the old traditions and therefore something that would fall under the treaty. I’m strongly referring to the Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious song here, which was apparently written for the movie.
To cut it short: I would like you to remove anything only based on the movie from her ability set, leaving behind spells that are evidentially based on the original written lore.
In this case it would also be nice to have a link to your sources

Re: [SNPC/Magician] Martha Poppins
Remove a lot of stuff for more the reason of not being able to find proof of various abilities outside movie information. However based on book covers and what you know about animal communication. Both are indeed in the books the original lore, the edited version to be exact.
Martha is supposed to be depowered with only her wits being her major strength and I guess Martha chop. Which hurts only just as badly as a normal slap. So it's not dangerous. Just very sudden and annoying.

Re: [SNPC/Magician] Martha Poppins
I’m still not 100% fine with the explanation of Idol Theory you gave me here.
In case of her ability to talk with animals I feel like the simple idea of keeping up a world view of an infant is not gonna make it, as this isn’t much of a symbol to begin with. The basics of the required symbolism would for example be talismans, hidden twists in her clothing and accessories or special movements/actions one has to take when casting a spell. Of course in this case it needs to resemble an infant.
As for the umbrella I will request more symbolism. It being a replica of the umbrella from the tale is fine, however I would still like to see some sort of activation ritual, like a special pose.
